Early Indicator and Intervention System
Correction and Reminder

On October 2, 2020, the Oregon Department of Education (ODE) issued a message about the Early Indicator and Intervention System grant funds. Since this time, ODE has clarified information about charter schools and receiving EIIS funds. Please see the following correction below, as well as a reminder:

CORRECTION: Public charter schools may directly receive Early Indicator and Intervention System grants for their EIIS systems by submitting the Intent to Utilize form. The amount of the grant is a public charter school’s ADMr × $3. In calculating the grant available to each school district or public charter school, ODE will use the most currently finalized ADMr from the State School Fund from the prior year. If a charter directly receives an EIIS grant, the amount of this grant will be subtracted from the sponsoring district’s allocation. If you have any questions about allocation amounts or requesting EIIS grant funds, please email Gloria Espitia

REMINDER: All school districts and charter schools that are interested in receiving EIIS funds must complete the Intent to Utilize form by November 16, 2020 at 5:00 pm. After this date, school districts and charter schools will no longer be able to request the EIIS funds for the 19-21 biennium.

ODE will use the intent to utilize information to execute a grant agreement that outlines eligible uses. As part of the agreement, districts and charter schools will be required to provide a report that identifies how the resources were specifically used in accordance to the eligible uses. This will be completed upon making the final claim of grant funds. Districts and charter schools will be able to claim eligible expenditures back to July 1, 2020.

Thank you!
