Weekly Construction Update:
February 9-16, 2019*

*Due to inclement weather all work is suspended for Saturday through Sunday, February 9-10. Weekday impacts are weather dependent.

Interstate 5 – Pacific Highway – at I-84 interchange

Project Description: This project will repair and resurface the bridges that connect I-84 and I-5. 

Traffic Impacts: Weekday periodic ramp closures.

Interstate 5 – Pacific Highway – Interstate Bridge to Moda Center paving

Project Description: This project will repave approximately six miles of Interstate 5 and exit and entrance ramps between the Interstate Bridge and the Moda Center. The project will also replace and upgrade existing signs on the mainline and on exit ramps, upgrade ADA ramps and replace the median barrier on the Hayden Island Bridge and near the North Broadway exit.

Traffic Impacts: Shoulder closures and pedestrian detours at Marine Drive, Lombard Street, Rosa Parks Way and Alberta Street.

Interstate 5 – Pacific Highway – Paving and Auxiliary Lane

Project Description: This project will add a southbound auxiliary lane on I-5 from Lower Boones Ferry Road to I-205, add a second lane to the Lower Boones Ferry Road off-ramp from I-5 north, and pave I-5 from OR 99W to I-205.

Traffic Impacts: Nighttime lane and ramp closures in both directions.

The southbound on- and off-ramps to Lower Boones Ferry (exit 290) and Nyberg Street (exit 289) will be closed at night between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. Shoulder closures.

Interstate 84 – Banfield Expressway – Regional Connections 

Project Description: This project is the next phase of ODOT RealTime, a system that provides real-time traffic information on roads to help travelers get where they're going more safely and efficiently. New electronic signs will be installed on I-84 between I-5 and I-205. During sign installations, there will be several full nighttime freeway closures. 

Traffic Impacts: No traffic impacts.

Interstate 84 – Banfield Expressway – Graham Road

Project Description:This project replaces the two I-84 bridges over Graham Road (Exit 17) in Troutdale and widens Graham Road and constructs a sidewalk and bike lane.

Traffic Impacts: Nighttime single lane closures on I-84 from 10 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. weekdays and daytime single lane closures on Graham Road.

Interstate 84 – Columbia River Highway – Wyeth to Lindsey Creek

Project Description: This project is constructing the next phase of the Historic Columbia River Highway State Trail. This segment will connect Wyeth Campgrounds to the State Trail at Lindsey Creek. Construction will occur through summer 2019.

Traffic Impacts: Single lane closure for eastbound I-84 and shoulder closures from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

Interstate 205 – East Portland Freeway – Glenn Jackson Bridge to Johnson Creek Boulevard

Project Description: This project will pave 9 miles of I-205 between Johnson Creek Boulevard and the Glenn Jackson Bridge, including some ramps, build auxiliary lanes in three locations, install ODOT RealTime electronic signs and make pedestrian improvements at Glisan Street.

Traffic impacts: Nighttime single and double lane closures in both directions and northbound Exit 23B to Killingsworth Street/U.S. 30 Bypass ramp closed.

Periodic daytime single lane closures in both directions on Glisan Street and on Washington and Stark. Pedestrian detours at Washington, Stark and Glisan Streets.

Periodic closure of the I-205 Shared Use Path between Gateway Transit Center and Glisan Street. Path users should detour to 99th Avenue.

Interstate 205 – East Portland Freeway – Shared Use Path at Maywood Park

Project Description: This project repaves the section of the I-205 Shared Use Path that runs through Maywood Park between the pedestrian bridge at I-84 near Northeast Fremont Street until Northeast Prescott Street.

Traffic Impacts: Shared use path is open without detours.

Interstate 205 - East Portland Freeway - Northbound Auxiliary Lane at Sunnybrook

Project Description: ODOT is improving safety and operations on Interstate 205 by building a northbound auxiliary lane between the Oregon 224 (Sunrise Expressway) on-ramp and the Sunnyside Road/Sunnybrook Boulevard interchange exit ramp (Exit 14).

Traffic Impacts: Single lane closures 8pm to 5:30am. Double lane closures 10pm to 5am. Possible ramp closures 9pm to 5am.

U.S. 26 – Sunset Highway – Cornelius Pass Road to 185th Avenue

Project Description: This project will widen U.S. 26 to three lanes in each direction between Cornelius Pass Road and NW 185th Avenue, replace the two Rock Creek bridges with one bridge, improve the north side of the Cornelius Pass Road interchange and build a sound wall on the north side of U.S. 26 westbound in the Rock Creek neighborhood.

Traffic Impacts: No traffic impacts.

U.S. 26 – Sunset Highway – Regional Connections

Project Description: This project is the next phase of ODOT RealTime, a system that provides real-time traffic information on roads to help travelers get where they're going more safely and efficiently. New electronic signs will be installed on U.S. 26 between I-405 and OR 217 and on I-84 between I-5 and I-205. New technology will be installed on TV Highway from OR 217 to Brookwood Parkway and on local Washington County roads.

U.S. 26 – Powell Boulevard – Safety Improvements

Project Description: This project will make safety improvements on Powell Boulevard from Southeast 20th to 34th Avenues. Improvements include installing pedestrian activated beacons, new signs improved lighting, and crosswalk and sidewalk improvements.

Traffic Impacts: Periodic weekday single lane closures from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in both directions.

Oregon 8 – Tualatin Valley Highway – Regional Connections 

Project Description: This project is the next phase of ODOT RealTime, a system that provides real-time traffic information on roads to help travelers get where they're going more safely and efficiently.

Traffic Impacts: Lane closures and pedestrian detours on 185th Avenue.

Oregon 99E – McLoughlin Boulevard – Tunnel Improvements

Project Description: This project improves the lighting in the vehicle and pedestrian tunnels on McLoughlin Boulevard near downtown Oregon City. It also installs a new variable message sign on the side side of the tunnel to alert northbound drivers of conditions ahead.

Traffic Impacts: Nighttime lane closures with flagging in OR 99E Tunnel Monday through Thursday.

Nighttime lane closures beginning at 7 p.m. with flaggers directing traffic at 9 p.m. between 2nd Ave and Main Street on McLaughlin Blvd (OR99E) until 5 am. Monday through Thursday.

Oregon 99W – Pacific Highway – Sidewalk Improvements

Project Description: This project will add sidewalk in two different locations in King City: on OR 99W southbound from SW Royalty Parkway to SW Durham Road and on SW Royalty Parkway from SW 116th Avenue up to the existing sidewalk. Work will conclude in summer 2019.

Traffic Impacts: Daytime bike lane closure.
