Welcome back to Tech Talks!
The new year is a great time to pause and appreciate all that we've accomplished throughout Service Oklahoma. We work hard to make a difference every day for the people we serve, and our technology should do the same. Thank you for your continued patience with the various hiccups and tech issues that pop up. Below are a few reminders on how to quickly get help when something goes wrong, so you can start the new year with the support you need!
Updates As you may already know, our recent Windows update allows you to sign in with a PIN, rather than your password. This PIN is tied to your specific device, meets security requirements and can help speed up your login while keeping your account protected. Please be aware that you will still need your regular password for email, remote access and other services. You will also still need to update your password every 90 days, regardless of whether you’re using it to log in to your computer. If you need help or have questions, please contact the OMES HelpDesk.
Helpful Shortcut Most people know you can highlight text and hit CTRL + C to copy the text, and then CTRL + V to paste that same text. A lesser-known trick is that you can also press Windows + V to open your clipboard history. From there, you’ll be able to choose from previously copied text or images and paste the one you need. Windows + V is also useful for inserting emojis into an email.
Getting Help As always, if you're having trouble with your computer, printer or other tech, the best way to get support is by opening a ticket through the OMES Employee Center Homepage - Employee Center.
If you prefer talking on the phone, you can call for support at (405) 521-2444. You can also email for help by sending a message to servicedesk@omes.ok.gov.
Don't forget the tip from our last email on how to take a screenshot if you'd like to include one in your ticket!
