Technology doesn’t have to be complicated. Our goal is to keep technology simple and stress-free, and that's where Tech Talks comes in.
In this issue, you’ll meet the friendly faces behind our End User Support (EUS) team, learn the quickest way to get IT help when you need it and pick up some easy tips to stay secure and productive.
Meet Your User Support Team We’re lucky to have two great team members supporting Service Oklahoma every day:
Justin John Justin has been supporting Service Oklahoma since the agency was first formed. He originally worked in Special Plates before officially joining OMES in May 2023. Today, he continues to provide consistent, day-to-day support—keeping our computers, printers and other tech running smoothly.
Vincent 'Daniel' Morgan Daniel joined OMES about three months ago. Before that, he supported the Department of Environmental Quality. He’s now part of our EUS team and stands ready to tackle tech challenges big and small to help you stay up and running.
Need Help? Start Here If you're having trouble with your computer, printer or other tech, the best way to get support is by opening a ticket through the OMES Employee Center Homepage - Employee Center.
Prefer talking on the phone? Call for support at (405) 521-2444. You can also email for help by sending a message to servicedesk@omes.ok.gov.
Feel free to take a screenshot of the issue and post it into the ticket to provide more details and help speed up the resolution.
If you need step-by-step help, check out the “Filing an IT Ticket” SOP on the intranet, which is also a great place to catch up on SOK news and announcements!
Simple Ways to Stay Secure Service Oklahoma serves thousands of citizens daily, and they trust us with their information. Your everyday actions help protect those we have the privilege to serve, as well as Service Oklahoma. Here are a few tips to keep in mind:
-
Think before you click. If an email or text looks strange, don’t click—report it to OMES CyberCommand.
-
Lock your screen. Press Windows + L before stepping away from your desk.
-
Use strong passphrases instead of short passwords. Passphrases are easier to remember and more secure. You can also mix letters, numbers and symbols (something like: IheartT@ylorSw1ft!).
-
Never share your password. IT will never ask for it. If someone does, it’s a scam.
-
Look out for scam messages. Just because someone from work sent you a message on your personal phone, that doesn't mean it's really them.
-
Ask if you’re unsure. If something feels off, reach out to IT. It's better to be safe than sorry.
Quick Tip: Screenshot Like a Pro Need to quickly share part of your screen? Here’s a shortcut worth remembering:
- Press Windows + Shift + S
- Your screen will dim, and your cursor will become a cross
- Click and drag over the area you want to capture
- Release, and it’s copied to your clipboard
- Paste it anywhere using Ctrl + V
That’s it for this edition of Tech Talks. If there’s a topic you’d like us to cover in a future issue, let the Communications team know. We’re here to help you stay connected and confident with your tools.
