Service Oklahoma will host a Q&A tomorrow to provide demos and answer questions about improvements to the Electronic Liens and Titles (ELT) system.
The virtual Q&A session will be tomorrow, April 3, at 11 a.m. When it's time to join, please click on this link.
During the event, you will get an overview of the ELT upgrades that will take effect next Monday, April 7. Our team will explain new dealership capabilities—like slip-in title requests that do not disrupt pre-registrations and the ability to add electronic liens—and how they will improve your workflows while saving time.
Our team will also demonstrate how the slip-in title and add lien processes work before answering your questions.
Expansion of Online Vehicle Information Requests (VIR) Another topic we will discuss during tomorrow's Q&A is the expansion of online vehicle information requests, an additional feature that will roll out on April 7. Dealers and lienholders will have the option to pay for expanded vehicle information requests on OkCARS, allowing them to obtain the same full reports that they would receive in person at licensed operators.
The expanded VIR will also permit users to enter up to 15 VINs per transaction, providing a more efficient way to request information. Dealers and lienholders will be able to make expanded vehicle information requests 24/7, giving them more flexibility to accommodate their schedules while freeing up licensed operators to perform other tasks.
Each expanded vehicle information request will cost $1 plus a transaction fee.
Although users will be able to make expanded vehicle information requests on OkCARS, they may still use Form 769 to obtain reports in person at licensed operators.
Electronic Titles Required on July 1 While ELT will see a host of upgrades on April 7, the system's next major leap will be on July 1, 2025, when Oklahoma will become the first state to require electronic titles. Existing paper titles will remain valid. But they will be converted to electronic records during the next transaction.
If you'd like to learn more about the ELT changes that will take place on April 7 and July 1, please read our original announcement at this link, which includes FAQs and training guides.
