Trainings/Webinars

**NEW** Crucial Conversations

Crucial Conversations for Mastering Dialogue is a nationally recognized training that helps people have difficult conversations that they are afraid to have or that aren't going well. And the focus of the training is not just about communication - it's about helping people get the results they want and need through their interactions with others.

Crucial Conversations for Mastering Dialogue can help you in your conversations with:

  • School Administrators
  • Staff and personnel including general ed teachers
  • Services resource providers
  • IEP team members
  • Parents and their advocates

We are now offering in-person classes as well as a virtual format using Zoom that is very effective. The in-person format consists of two days, and the virtual format consists of five 2.5-hour long sessions that can be scheduled over three days or one session at a time.

The Special Education Resolution Center provides Crucial Conversations for Mastering Dialogue classes at no cost to those attending through our partnership with the Oklahoma State Department of Education. In-person regional classes for Special Education Directors and School Administrators have now been scheduled for January through March 2023.

Thinking Outside the “Box”: Exploring Roles of SLPS/SLPAs in Dyslexia

When we hear the term dyslexia, too often, our initial thoughts are only considering the program needed for effective instruction.  In this session, we will discuss how vital our roles are as SLPs/SLPAs to think outside of the “box”. Attendees will explore the scope of practice in speech language pathology and how it applies to individuals with dyslexia. We will discuss recent legislation and describe ways SLPs/SLPAs can be more involved in the school and private practice settings. Participants will also learn about evidence-based intervention techniques and approaches to effectively manage dyslexia. Various service delivery options in the school and clinical settings will be discussed. Case studies and demonstrations will be used to demonstrate the various aspects of dyslexia intervention. Discussion will also focus on how to incorporate principles of structured literacy in your current speech and language treatment plans.

Join us Friday, February 17, 2023!

Questions can be directed to Gretchen Lloyd.
