**NEW** Child Count Final Notice

As a reminder, certification of the Special Education Child Count Report is not a separate process this year. (The SSO Child Count application is permanently offline.) When Superintendents certify their October 1 Consolidated Report, they will simultaneously certify the Child Count. Please ensure that the Special Education list in the Consolidated Report is accurate and complete for each site before certifying. The state deadline for certifying the reports is October 17. If errors are not resolved by the 17th (with certain exceptions for appeals), those students will not be counted.

If you have students who are not pulling to the Consolidated Reports’ Special Education list, you can appeal the Sept. 30 count. Please see the appeal guidance here. We do ask that you follow the instructions carefully to ensure that we have the information we need to resolve the appeal as quickly as possible. Submit appeals no later than October 12.

Charting the LifeCourse

Charting the LifeCourse is a framework developed to help individuals with disabilities and families at any age or stage of life think about what they need to know, identify how to find or develop supports, and discover what it takes to live the lives they want to live. Individuals and families may focus on their current situation and stage of life but may also find it helpful to look ahead to start thinking about what they can do or learn what will help build an inclusive productive life in the future. This will be an interactive meeting via Zoom. Participants will leave the training with tools to use throughout their child’s life at home, with schools and in medical settings.

**NEW** Active Learning Conference

Individuals with multiple disabilities (cerebral palsy, visual impairment, cognitive impairment, autism, hearing impairment, etc.) are at great risk from developing reliance on others to interact with the world around them. Active Learning recognizes that every child/adult with special needs is unique; that programming and intervention for facilitating learning must reflect this individuality. This conference will help professionals and parents understand the theories of Active Learning, to facilitate simple ways to change the environment, and to create a daily curriculum that fosters independent and appropriate developmental learning.

The conference will be held on November 7 and 8, 2022 at Edmond North High School Auditorium. To register and learn more about the conference, view the event flyer.
