Professional Development Bonus for District Determinations

Survey

Districts may now submit 2020-2021 school year professional development documentation to receive up to two bonus points on the annual district determination (issued November 2021).  Note that not all PD qualifies for the bonus: please read the qualifications carefully when you open the link. Districts who were assigned Level 2 or Level 3 supports (DMR 2 or DMR 3) during the 2020-2021 School year will automatically earn bonus points for timely completion of monitoring requirements and do not need to complete the survey.  The survey close date is October 15, 2021.  Please submit your information by clicking on the icon above.

If you have questions, please email Felica Denton or Cheryl Revolinski for assistance.

Guidance on FAPE

Guidance on FAPE considerations for students eligible in the primary category of Developmental Delay (DD)/Speech Language Impairment or Speech-Language Impairment (SLI).  You can find the document here

Please contact Michele DeBerry if you have any questions.

New Optional Forms

We have released two new OPTIONAL forms for your district's use if you choose.

1) Socio-Cultural Survey - You may use this survey as a part of your evaluation/re-evaluation process to gain important information from the family of the student being evaluated.  This is an OPTIONAL form, but please keep in mind that some of this data is required on the eligibility document.

2) General Education Teacher Questionnaire  - This OPTIONAL form may be used to collect general education teacher input prior to the eligibility or the IEP meeting to record in the PLAAFP section of the IEP.  Completion of this form DOES NOT take the place of the general education teacher's participation in the IEP meeting but is intended to help the team detail the student's level of functioning and participation in the general education setting.

Links to both of these forms can be found on our website under OSDE Resources with other technical assistance documents and in EDPlan in the "State" documents tab at the bottom of the main menu page.

Please email Michele DeBerry if you have any questions.

Paraprofessional Training - Part I and II in Oklahoma City

Para

The Oklahoma State Department of Education – Special Education Services Division in collaboration with Dr. Kaylin Coody will be hosting paraprofessional training at two different locations: Glenpool and Oklahoma City. Topics of discussion include: Behavior Strategies, Progress Monitoring, Data Collection, and Classroom Behavior Management for Paraprofessionals. The training, in addition to online work, will provide the required hours of SDE curriculum necessary for the OSDE Paraprofessional Certificate.

The training is divided into two parts – Part I and Part II. Participants will need to register for a location of their choice and complete both Part I and Part II at that location. If participants do not complete both sessions at the location of their choice, they will not receive credit for the required hours necessary for the OSDE Paraprofessional Certificate.

The training is free of charge if participants attend both sessions. If attendees do not participate in both training sessions, the district will be responsible for the cost associated with the participant(s).

Registration is required as enrollment will be limited due to COVID-19, as we will be implementing and following CDC and State guidelines. All participants will be required to wear a mask.

♦To register for the Oklahoma City training, click here.                                                              ♦To register for the Glenpool training, click here.
