Kelley Building demolition is complete and work continues
Demolition work is complete at the Kelley Building and Annex, located near the Oklahoma History Center just east of the Capitol Complex. Work continues on the annex mechanical, electrical and framing systems. When completed, the main building will serve as office space for state agencies, and the annex will serve as a day care facility for state employees. All renovation is scheduled to be completed by August 2026.
New maintenance request system
The OMES CAM Office of Facilities Management recently announced a new maintenance request system across state buildings.
Tenants can use this portal to submit work orders for plumbing issues, HVAC problems, water leaks, structural issues, pest control and other concerns. This new system will enhance our ability to provide a safe, comfortable workspace through quality facilities and responsive service.
Lapsing funds
As a reminder, fiscal appropriations for FY 2024 are due to lapse soon, most of them on Nov. 26. Agencies must complete all transactions in these funds before the various lapse dates; any cash remaining in these funds after the lapse dates will be swept back to the general revenue fund.
House Bill 2164 guidance
As a reminder, beginning Nov. 1, all certified procurement officers (CPOs) must follow the requirements outlined in House Bill 2164. This law adds new compliance obligations and increases penalties for violations related to state purchasing activities.
Refurbished IT equipment saves OHCA time and money
The speed and value of interagency collaboration were on full display with our recent work for the Oklahoma Health Care Authority (OHCA).
Facing an urgent need to equip their cubicles and build a backup inventory for employees returning to the office, OHCA reached out to the Office of Management and Enterprise Services (OMES). The OMES IS IT Asset Management (ITAM) team jumped into action, quickly identifying and offering refurbished monitors and docking stations from our existing inventory, as this gives agencies a more inexpensive option than buying new devices.
"Being able to procure these monitors at a significant discount allowed us to provide the needed equipment to our agency while staying within budget," said OHCA Chief Technology Officer Stephen Miller.
In just 24 hours, the ITAM team finalized the details and provided OHCA with all the equipment needed. This solution not only ensured staff was fully equipped but also delivered significant value, saving the state $28,640 by utilizing existing assets.
"I was thoroughly impressed with the quick turnaround time for the equipment we needed," said OHCA System Integration and Support Services Director Leslie Sickler. "The process with the OMES IS ITAM team was seamless, efficient and solution-focused.”
This successful partnership highlights the ITAM team's commitment to supporting state agencies with fast, cost-effective and high-quality solutions.
