As announced in the September bulletin, the Oklahoma Accountancy Board received approval of the proposed administrative rules extending the period for both scores and candidacy from 18 months to 30 months. These rules also changed the beginning of the thirty-month clock from the date of sitting for the first successful exam section to the date for the score release of the first successful exam section. To successfully complete the exam in the allotted time frame, the date the candidate sat for their final passing exam section must fall within that thirty month after receiving notice of their first passing score.  

These new rules will take effect on September 15, 2024, and will be applied retroactively to all active scores and candidacies to allow all candidates the full 30 months. If you had an active score as of September 15th, the expiration date has been extended to allow for the full 30 months with the starting point moved to the date of score release versus the date sat. As such, your official score notice that you received upon passing is now incorrect. If you have a question regarding your new expiration date, please contact us.

Outlined in the Oklahoma Accountancy Act is the requirement that CPAs and PAs must notify the Board of any change in employment within 30 days of the change. You may do this through your online portal, by emailing our general email address, okaccybd@oab.ok.gov, or by calling us at 405-521-2397. Do not stop your renewal if your employment is incorrect. You may finish your renewal and then update your employment information.

The Core and Discipline 2025 Testing Schedule

There is some exciting news for those taking the CORE sections in 2025. They are returning to continuous testing. This means there will be no blackout windows for Core testing, and a candidate may retake a failed section in the same quarter.  You may see the Core release dates by clicking on this link: Core Section Release Dates

In 2025, Discipline sections will still be on a schedule with blackout windows. A Discipline section may be taken the first month of each quarter; however, there is an exception for the second quarter. During the second quarter, candidates will be able to take a Discipline section in April and in June to account for those individuals losing credits extended by the CPA Evolution initiative.

These meetings are open to the public. If you wish to speak, you must notify the Executive Director before the meeting of the desire to speak and the topic to be addressed
