During the 2018 National Mobilizations for “Click It or Ticket” (CIOT) and “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” (DSOGPO), Ohio accomplished the following:
Ohio Safe Communities coordinated 46 “Click It or Ticket” Kickoff events and 47 “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Kickoff events. The emphasis of these events was to increase public and media awareness of the mobilization and the importance of both restraint usage and of deterring impaired driving in their communities.
- 411 Local law enforcement agencies participated in CIOT.
- 364 Local law enforcement agencies participated in DSOGPO.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources participated in both.
These agencies accounted for the following activity during these mobilizations:
- 250 - DUI arrests 20 and under
- 4,875 – DUI arrests 21 and over
- 27,085 – Adult restraint citations
- 812 – Child restraint citations
- 81,161 – Speed violations
- 40,817 – Other citations
- 12,911 – Suspended or revoked licenses
- 2,685 – Felony Arrests
- 296,942 – Traffic Enforcement hours worked
- 273,448 – Number of traffic stops
These efforts helped Ohio achieve nearly an 85 percent restraint usage seat belt rate for 2018.
These efforts also helped Ohio achieve the following reductions from the 2017 mobilization periods:
- Fatal Injury Crashes by 5
- Deaths by 9
- Alcohol-Related Crashes by 122
- Alcohol-Related Fatal Crashes by 9
- Alcohol-Related Deaths by 10
