Thanksgiving Together Invites Current, Former Youth in Care
Thanksgiving Together is an event inviting current foster youth (ages 14+) and former foster youth (ages 18+) from Ohio to gather for a meaningful Thanksgiving celebration. Open to individuals who have experienced kinship care, adoption, or group home placements, the event allows attendees to bring guests and fosters a supportive environment where youth can connect, celebrate achievements, and share encouragement.
Beyond a traditional meal, Thanksgiving Together offers networking opportunities, resources, and giveaways including blankets from My Very Own Blanket. This year, early celebrations will be held in Southwest, Northeast, and Central Ohio. Attendance is free, but an RSVP is required.
Please share this information and registration link with current and former foster youth in your area.

Step Up To Quality Update
A new model for Step Up To Quality (SUTQ) became effective July 7, 2024. A key component is family engagement, which moves from a child-centered focus to a child and family-centered focus. Ideally, when the whole family's needs are addressed, the child's learning and development improve, resulting in better outcome for the child and the family's well-being.
Although SUTQ mandatory forms were removed from the model to provide greater flexibility for early care and education programs, sample forms have been created to assist programs in implementing the new standards and requirements. The latest sample form is the "Family Needs Survey for Step Up To Quality (SUTQ)." Families are to identify their needs for resources or support in designated topics and early care and education programs provide referrals. The sample form is available at Program Standards, Rules and Forms | Department of Children and Youth.
