How does it work?
When you're ready to file, visit IRS Direct File to start your federal return. Once you submit it, your federal return information will be seamlessly transferred to New York State Direct File so you can file your state return.
What if I don't qualify?
If you do not qualify for New York State Direct File, do not use IRS Direct File. Instead, visit E-file options for personal income tax to find other filing options that may work for you.
