Dear Valued New York State Cosmetologist Licensee,
On August 27, 2024, The New York State Division of Licensing sent an email regarding a new update for COSMETOLIGIST LICENSEES.
The Division of Licensing would like to provide clarification about eyebrow and eyelash tinting services using products containing silver nitrate color additives.
Please note that only New York State Licensed Cosmetologists can offer eyebrow and eyelash tinting with silver nitrate products.
This service is NOT within the scope of practice for holders of the following licenses:
- Natural Hair Styling
- Esthetics
- Nail Specialty
- Waxing
We want to ensure all beauty professionals clearly understand their scope of practice to maintain compliance and safety standards.
