End of Life Planning Classes are interactive, with in-depth exploration of rights, choices and options regarding your home, medical care, advance care health directives, estate planning, death care options, and so much more. Attendees receive a planning workbook and organizer. Classes are free to Bernalillo County residents 60 and over. No legal, financial or medical advice is provided. Individuals are asked to attend all seven classes in the series. No single class registration. Seating is limited to 25 individuals.

Online Anthropological Genetic History Classes

El Cid – Rodrigo Diaz de Vivar and New Mexico Families
Tuesday, January 9, 2024: 4:00-6:00 p.m.
El Cid is the subject of the oldest extant Spanish epic poem Cantar de Mio Cid. Enjoy a short documentary and discussion on the life of El Cid. The following questions will be answered: Who was he? What is the true history? and Who are his descendants?
Free Financial Literacy Workshops
New Classes starting January 3 to February 7, 2024
Free workshops for persons 50+ will cover topics like managing debt, savings, setting goals, building wealth, retirement, social security and long-term care. All sessions will be held on Wednesdays, 1 to 2:30 p.m. unless otherwise noted, and are hosted at the Paradise Hills Senior Center, 6001 Paradise Blvd. NW in Albuquerque.
Participants will receive a complimentary Financial Education Workbook recognized by the National Financial Literacy Campaign.
Workshop dates are January 3 to February 7, 2024; and March 27 to May 1, 2024.
Special offerings of these classes will be hosted for adults under 50 on February 14 to March 20, 2024; and May 8 to June 12, 2024 from 2:30 to 4 p.m.

Art Lab - Raymond G. Sanchez Senior Center
The Art Lab hosted at Raymond G. Sanchez Senior Center will not host classes on January 10, 2024. Informal classes will resume on January 17 from 9:30 to 11:30 each Wednesday. New watercolor classes will also be announced soon.
Art class participants are encouraged to submit unsolicited proposals for existing works of art in 2023 as described below.

The Bernalillo County Public Art Program is currently accepting proposals for existing works of visual art through our Unsolicited Proposals Process. The deadline is quickly approaching for unsolicited proposals for existing artwork. New Mexico-based artists interested in showcasing artwork with the county are invited to submit work for consideration.
Deadline: Proposals are currently being accepted now through Sunday, Dec. 31, 2023 for review during the February Arts Board meeting.
How to Apply: For more information and to apply, please visit here. Please note, if an artist has had an artwork purchased by the county within one year of the submission deadline or currently has a contract with Bernalillo Public Art for a public art project, they will not be eligible for one calendar year from the date of the purchase.

Physical Exercise/Fitness Programs
Enhanced Fitness Classes Free at Rio Bravo Senior Center
Participate in free exercise classes designed for older adults 50+. Classes are M/W/F from 9 to 10 a.m. Baseline assessments are included to gage progress of participants as evidence based classes are proven to enhance mobility, fitness and help reduce falls.

Chair Yoga Classes
Chair Yoga is known to improve flexibility, balance, bone and muscle strength. It helps reduce stress, combat depression and anxiety. Older adults 50+ are invited to Free Chair Yoga classes at the following Bernalillo County Senior Centers:

The City of Albuquerque Department of Senior Affairs continues to serve senior lunches. Lunches are distributed between 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. Monday thru Friday and are available at senior and multigenerational centers. Seniors 60* must make reservations directly with the Senior Center 24 hours in advance. Lunches are free to seniors 60 and over. See the contact information for locations and phone numbers.
