The Bernalillo County Treasurer’s Office mailed the 2021 property tax bills to property owners (land, house, mobile home, business equipment, and livestock) on Dec. 1, 2021. Per New Mexico state law, the property tax bills are required to be mailed by Nov. 1 each year, but this year’s bill was delayed due to state law (HB407-2019) allowing school districts to have a mill levy question on the November election ballot.
For Bernalillo County the delayed dates are:
|
|
|
- Dec. 1, 2021 – Mailing of property tax bills
- Dec. 10, 2021 – Payment due date
- Jan. 10, 2022 – Final first half property tax due date without late penalties and interest

Cultivating Bernalillo County's Grow the Growers (GTG) program is a comprehensive beginner farmer training and business acceleration initiative designed to attract new and emerging farmers into professional food production. GTG helps strengthen the local food economy by helping individuals establish an agricultural or food-related business, keep public lands in agricultural production as a means of stewarding natural resources, and participate in the local food system to improve the health of our county.
|
Each year, the program accepts Bernalillo County residents as participants and guides them through three stages – internship, business incubation, and independent business. From March – November, volunteers, interns, and business incubators of the GTG program are based at Hubbell Open Space in Bernalillo County’s South Valley. Open Space partners with the Bernalillo County Extension Office, Agri-Cultura Network, and Ciudad Soil and Water Conservation District to provide:
- Educational workshops
- In-field and on-farm training
- Stipends for first-year, full-time trainees
- Access to affordable land and water
- Small business mentoring
We are now accepting applications for the 2022 growing season! Please see our website for additional information and the application form. Applications are due by Dec. 20, 2021 via email at growthegrowers@bernco.gov with the subject line "Grow the Growers Application."

Final call for public review and comment
The Bernalillo County Commission is in the final stage of evaluating proposed changes to political boundaries within the county and is scheduled to vote on adopting new boundaries on Dec.14. Such remapping or redistricting is required every 10 years to accommodate changes in population documented by the U.S. Census. As populations grow, shrink, or move around, districts must be redrawn so that each district contains approximately the same number of people. As the maps are redrawn attention focuses on preservation of minority voting rights, contiguity, compactness and communities of interest. continue reading..... |

Annual Report
|
|
As we embark on a new fiscal year, we are very proud to share the successes of the previous year in light of the challenges the community has encountered. Our department, along with our community providers and partnerships, have been on the front lines for the past 19 months. Together, we have had a laser focus on the behavioral health needs of the community. Although there have been struggles, we have been able to continue to expand and provide needed supports to our community. This annual report is an opportunity to share our success and growth," says Director Margarita Chavez-Sanchez. |

Vehicle batteries are considered hazardous waste and can potentially ignite a fire inside garbage trucks or at material collection sites. Never put batteries in trash or recycling carts. It’s best to set used batteries aside and safely dispose of them at community hazardous waste collection events.
