WHAT'S NEW:
NC College Connect Data Correction Window*
Open Data Correction Window, Due Sept. 30.
NCDPI has been notified that a handful of seniors who should have received a notification may not have due to incorrect data fields in the NCSIS. This could happen for reasons as ordinary as a course code or a transcript record that hadn't been updated when the file was pulled. In order to ensure that every eligible student is included, a data correction window has been opened through Sept. 30. Although the mailed letters cannot be reissued, we can still ensure the students are not missed and receive direct admission offers in their CFNC portal.
Our ask is that you coordinate and work with your school teams to:
- Check for any seniors (Grade 12 and Grade 13) on track to graduate who were not eligible for NC College Connect direct admissions, whether that information surfaces from a parent, a student, or a counselor. Use the initial data pull list found in the Accountability Secure Shell on Sept. 16 to determine who was missed.
-
Update the data in the NCSIS. The Data Correction Form has the fields to indicate what was updated—schedule, GPA, diploma type or grad program, membership status, and grade-level change.
- Complete the Data Correction Form with student data indicating what has been changed. This form is available in the Accountability Secure Shell.
- Ensure the superintendent/charter school leader signs the data correction verification and upload both forms by Sept. 30 at 5 p.m. back to the Accountability Secure Shell.
- Once NCDPI verifies that data, we will make sure each student gets their direct admission offers in their CFNC Portal.
Please note that this is the last opportunity to make sure students are eligible for NC College Connect. We expect the number to be small for data corrections and grateful for your attention to these details. But "every senior" means every senior, and we'd rather ask now than have a student miss their moment.
If you have questions, please contact NCCollegeConnect@dpi.nc.gov.

Master Course Code List Update*
The “SY 26.27 Master Course Code List 09.24.26 V5” has been updated to reflect the following:
- Full Courses Tab - Added Credit of “1(Middle)” to all Middle School Art Courses that meet the Arts Education Graduation Requirement in SBE policy GRAD-004.
- Purpose:
-
Credit “1” - Updates are being made to ensure the NC Official Transcript indicates when a student has passed the applicable course and met the Arts Education Graduation Requirement, regardless of the grading scale locally approved for middle school. This grade scale requirement is outlined in State Board of Education policy GRAD-009.
-
Credit Type - MS > Middle must remain as Credit Type so that HS GPAs are not affected and the course does not appear on the North Carolina Transcript.
- Future Changes Needed (ACTION IS NOT REQUIRED BY PSUs at this TIME in NCSIS):
- Course Final Grading Task will need to show a credit of 1
- DPI will run a script to populate this. Date TBD.
- Courses not currently graded on a 4-point grading scale
- Adjustments will be needed, please watch for future NCDPI Communication.
- Timeline for showing requirement complete on NC Official Transcript: TBD.

CTE Reporting Update*
Pathway names have been updated in Academic Programs within Infinite Campus. Please reference the instructions for identifying CTE concentrator status in Infinite Campus linked below:
http://go.ncdpi.gov/cteconcentrator
As CTE staff are validating concentrator status in the NCSIS, the following questions/issues are the most common. If you are experiencing issues with your NC CTE Extract, please troubleshoot these scenarios first.
- Student is completely missing from the NC CTE Extract
- Cause: No Academic Programs are assigned to the student
- Solution: Add the correct Academic Program (page 3 of instructions)
- Student is on the NC CTE Extract but is missing their pathway
- Cause: The Academic Program for that pathway is not assigned to the student
- Solution: Add the correct Academic Program (page 3 of instructions)
- Student is on the NC CTE Extract with the correct pathway/program, but the status is incorrect (and you have already verified that they have credit on their transcript for the required courses in the designated pathway)
- Cause: Update Student Status was not successfully run when the student completed the pathway
- Solution: Run Update Student Status (page 4 of instructions).
At this time, we expect the NC CTE Extract to correctly display concentrator status when all steps in the instructions have been completed.
Potential concentrator status is still in progress for 2026-2027. Please continue identifying potential concentrators for Fall 2026 based on your current course rosters. An update will be posted when the auto program assignment for current course enrollments is fully functional.

Clarification: Membership for Students with IEPs*
To be counted in membership, students must be enrolled for at least 50% of the instructional day. There is no special FTE for students with IEPs who attend fewer than half of the school’s instructional day.
- Students attending 50% or more of the instructional day are included in membership.
- Students attending less than 50% of the instructional day are reported as visiting students.
This guidance aligns with existing SASA policy and ensures consistent reporting across PSUs.
For questions, please refer to the SASA Manual link below or contact the Office of School Business Services.

Graduation Programs & Course Code Updates
9/17/2026 Arts Ed Grad Req Middle School Validation Report Updates
NCDPI will publish optimized versions of the Arts Education Graduation Requirement MS Validation rules on Thursday afternoon, September 17, 2026.
The three rules have been optimized for faster processing when run for All Schools or an individual school calendar. The rules return students in grades 6–8 and support historical, current, and future selected years, including summer inactive/not-yet-rolled students, and appropriately handle transfers, withdrawals, and no-shows.
- (NC) Arts Ed Grad Req – MS Met
- Students that have passed a qualifying Middle School Arts course recorded on the transcript. If multiple courses qualify, the student’s earliest qualifying transcript course is displayed.
- The Met Date is formatted as YYYY-MM-DD.
- (NC) Arts Ed Grad Req – MS Not Met – No Qualifying Course is Scheduled
- Students who have not passed a qualifying transcript course and do not have a qualifying course scheduled.
- (NC) Arts Ed Grad Req – MS Not Met – Qualifying Course is Scheduled
- Students who have not passed a qualifying transcript course but do have a qualifying course scheduled.
-
Scheduled Term reflects the course’s full term, such as Q3, Q1-Q2, Q3-Q4, or Q1-Q4 or other term setup used by the PSU.
- Roster and term dates are formatted as YYYY-MM-DD. The Roster End Date may reflect a student’s withdrawal date from the course.
- The three rules are mutually exclusive, so a student appears in only one result for the selected year. The student’s latest identity record is used to prevent duplicate results following a name change.
-
Selected-Year Grade is the student’s grade for the calendar year in which the report is run. It may represent a historical, current, or future assigned grade.
Navigation: Reporting > Data Validation > Data Validation Report > State Owned
- Select the report.
- Keep Local Data Set selected and select the desired output options.
- For a large data set, select Submit to Batch Queue and then select Generate.

For Arts Graduation Policy or Course Code Crosswalk questions, please contact Brandon Roeder, NCDPI K–12 Music and Theatre Consultant.

CRDC Coordination Brief
CRDC Coordination Brief: New CRDC Contact Step: Update Both Systems
As we prepare for the SY2025–26 Civil Rights Data Collection, PSUs should ensure CRDC Coordinator information is current in both the federal CRDC submission system and EDDIE.
Federal CRDC ContactsThe federal CRDC team maintains its collection contacts through the federal submission system. These contacts receive federal communications and information needed to establish system access. To add or update a CRDC Coordinator, contact the CRDC Partner Support Center using the Contact Us Form.
EDDIE ContactsReview your PSU’s CRDC contacts in EDDIE and submit needed updates by October 1. NCDPI uses EDDIE contacts for state CRDC communications, resources, and collection support. PSUs are encouraged to maintain two CRDC Coordinators. Visit the NCDPI EDDIE webpage for instructions and assistance.
Keeping both sources current helps ensure the appropriate staff receive federal and NCDPI information throughout the collection.
Contact the SEA CRDC Coordinator with any questions at NC.OCR.CRDC@dpi.nc.gov.
