NC DPI Press Release June 2, 2022: Digital Teaching and Learning Grants Win Approval - The SBE approved the 13 proposals through the sixth round of competitive grants under the state’s Digital Learning Initiative. The state-funded grants support the development and dissemination of local innovative digital learning models.

EdNC Dean Drescher June 1, 2022 : North Carolina schools lag in submitting required school safety plans, House committee learns - The N.C. House Committee on K-12 Education met Wednesday to hear an update on school safety in the state. This included data that showed that nearly one-third of the state’s schools have not yet submitted a School Risk Management Plan (SRMP) — a requirement of state law.

EdNC Mebane Rash June 2, 2022 : I went to 92 schools in person during the pandemic. Here is what I learned - Early on in the pandemic, Eric Davis , chair of the N.C. State Board of Education, sent me a picture of sidewalk chalk art. It read, “We can do hard things .” It was prescient. On March 16, 2020, Gov. Roy Cooper closed our schools by executive order .
