NCSTAR Spring 2022 Professional Learning

The division of District and Regional Support within the Office of Educational Equity is excited to announce the Spring 2022 School Improvement Planning & NCStar Professional Development series. The training will be offered in eight different locations across the state. Depending on participants'' knowledge of NCStar, they may register for one or both days of this statewide PD.

These sessions will cover the same material and all the new resources shared during the Fall 2021 and Winter Virtual sessions.

New NC Workforce Credentials Resource

As North Carolina’s public schools continue to prioritize postsecondary success for students, the North Carolina Workforce Credentials (NCWC) Council identified priority non-degree credentials of marketplace value. This list will benefit students, as well as school leaders, when exploring post-secondary plans for students.

The Arts in Education Artist Residency Grant Now Open

The Arts in Education Artist Residency Grant through the NC Arts Council is now open. This grant is designed to give schools and school districts funding to bring artists into the classroom, virtually or in person, for a residency during the Fall 2022 or Spring 2023 semester. Grant funding supports standards-based, long-term (10 days and longer) artist residencies that provide students with the opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge and skills in the arts.

NC Virtual Reality Adventures On the Road

Learn how to positively impact student learning by creating innovative, literacy-rich, project-based learning experiences that will engage students in content areas from science and social studies to math and CTE. This engaging instructional strategy is applicable to all classrooms and can be experienced by students through a simple link on a variety of technology including chromebooks, phones and tablets as well as VR headsets.

NC VR Adventures are designed for K-12 educators, school counselors and anyone eager to take learners on adventures.

Cumberland County Student Qualifies for USA Special Olympics

Terry Sanford High School student Jett Chilton has qualified for the USA Special Olympics this summer. Jett will take part in the dead lift, squat and bench press competitions.

Yadkin County Superintendent Recognized as 2021 Ken C. McEwin Award Recipient

Yadkin County Schools Superintendent Dr. Todd Martin was recognized at the NC Association for Middle Level Education (NCMLE) conference this week as the 2021 Ken C. McEwin Award recipient. This award is given to a professional who has demonstrated outstanding dedication to middle school concepts over the course of their career.

In this webinar, participants take a deep dive into the four strands while differentiating between knowledge and skill.
