State Board of Education Mission: The mission of the North Carolina State Board of Education is to use its constitutional authority to guard and maintain the right of a sound, basic education for every child in North Carolina Public Schools.

Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) is honored to support excellent and dedicated educators for 70 years. CCSSO recently announced the 2022 State Teachers of the Year. These educators define the best in the teaching profession by their passion and purpose.
The 2022 cohort comprises 56 educators from across the country and U.S. territories. These educators were selected by state leaders for excellence in teaching and learning and a commitment to the profession.

It’s time to nominate outstanding K-6th grade mathematics or science teachers for the 2021-22 Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST)! The Award is the highest national honor for K-12 science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and/or computer science teaching.
