ACTFL FOR GLOBAL ENGAGEMENT INITIATIVE RECOGNITION
The American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) Global Engagement Initiative recognizes outstanding
community-engaged learning experiences within the world languages curriculum at
all levels of instruction. Do you know of a program that allows students to use
their target language to participate in a global community? Nominate it for recognition by May 28.

A recent study about the ideal age for learning a language
fluently said people can remain skilled learners until ages 17 or 18. Monika
Schmid, a linguistics professor at the University of Essex in England, writes
that learners can become a fluent speaker of a world language at any age, and
in this commentary, she explains why she disagrees with the interpretations of
the study's findings.

iEARN (The International Education and Resource Network) is pleased to announce that the 2018 International Conference and Youth Summit will be hosted by iEARN-USA in Winchester, Virginia from July 8 - 14, 2018.
The event will reinforce communications and develop partnerships between educators and youth locally, regionally, and globally, and will provide an opportunity for educators and youth to share successful classroom project examples and develop new collaborative project ideas. In addition to educator and youth led workshops, the event also features cultural excursions, culture nights, and keynotes by leaders working in the fields of global education and virtual exchange.
