2017 Charter School Performance Framework Submission Updates - Reminder

OCS collects evidence of operational, financial, and academic compliance through the Charter School Performance Framework (PF). The regular collection process concluded in April. To ensure continuing compliance, the Office of Charter Schools is requesting an update submission into the SharePoint system. Your username and password for this system will be the same as the regular collection period. Please note your school email address is not your username for the system. Your unique username and password are specifically for the SharePoint system. Technical support for username and password information is detailed below.

Deadline- July 15, 2017- Please note this update is not applicable to all schools. Please review each updated measure for details.

A14- Certificate of Occupancy- If your school is relocating, adding new buildings, or upgrading existing buildings, you must submit an updated Certificate of Occupancy. If you have not received the Educational Certificate of Occupancy, you may not use that space for students. Additionally, if this change results in a change of address, you will need to update EDDIE accordingly.

A15- Certificate of Insurance- If the Certificate of Insurance you submitted during the regular collection process has expired, you must submit an updated Certificate of Insurance that demonstrates your insurance is current and meets the current insurance type and coverage amounts.

Multi-Tiered System of Support

NC Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) Updates

Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) Updates

The  Integrated Academic and Behavior Systems (IABS) team extends sincere appreciation to the Office of Charter Schools for the continued opportunity to collaborate in supporting all students. Last week at DPI, Correy Watkins, Regional Consultant, IABS presented, “Leveraging the Power of MTSS in Your School”.  For a resource shared with these new charter schools, click here. This week, your IABS team is thrilled to share the first of several videos collected as a “Voices from the Field” project. The interviews of current MTSS Cohort leaders were created to support Charter Schools exploring implementation.

One of the first things teams must do is determine why they would engage in the work of building an MTSS. The identification of a “compelling why” can serve to create a sense of urgency among those in your school. Thus, our first videos provide examples of sites that made a choice to build a system that was efficient for staff and effective for students.  We hope you are inspired to create a compelling why after enjoying the videos from Forsyth Academy and Lincoln Charter.

For additional information on creating a Compelling Why, please access the LiveBinder or contact Amy Jablonski, Director, Integrated Academic and Behavior Systems(IABS).

NC Early Numeracy Skills Indicator Professional Development

The Integrated Academic and Behavior Systems division at NCDPI is pleased to provide an informative recorded webinar about the upcoming release of NCENSI (North Carolina Early Numeracy Skill Indicators).  The release of these K-3 math measures is part of a larger project begun by NCDPI to ensure equitable access to quality universal screening and progress-monitoring tools across the state for FREE and OPTIONAL use.

NC has already committed, first through the implementation of Read to Achieve, to the importance of early identification and prevention activities that begin with valid and reliable screening and monitoring tools.  To expand upon this important work, the first goal is to provide similar access for the area of early mathematics in grades kindergarten- 3rd grade.  The recorded webinar and supporting materials (including directions for access) are included here and will also be archived at the MTSS wikispace. Please take particular note of the dates for professional development and corresponding registration information.  Access to the materials will be given after LEA attendance at this professional development.

Please contact Amy Jablonski at with any questions.
