October is Community Planning Month and Customer Service Week (October 6-10)! These annual celebrations are two ways we recognize how our staff works together to make Raleigh safe and well-designed.
Planning and customer service go hand in hand to build a better Raleigh. Planning sets the long-term vision through the City’s comprehensive plan. Customer service helps residents with the support they need for development and permitting. Whether it’s a neighborhood meeting or a quick phone call, every interaction is our chance to offer great service and support.
This October, we’re focused on turning community ideas into progress that supports smart growth
Sincerely,
Bynum Walter, Daniel Stegall,
In Memory of Seth Langdon
It is with sadness that we share the passing of Seth Langdon, a valued member of the Planning and Development department. Seth brought dedication, kindness, and a steady hand to his work as a Development Manager. He took great pride in helping residents and professionals navigate the development process with clarity and care.
Seth was known not only for his technical expertise but for the way he treated people. Whether answering a question or guiding a complex project, he made every interaction feel personal and supportive.
His contributions strengthened the way we serve our community. His presence will be deeply missed by colleagues and customers alike.
Continuous Improvements
Water Permitting Gets Easier
As of Oct, 1, Raleigh Water projects no longer require permit blocks on SPR and Merger Town Construction Drawings.
Fees for reviews and permits are due at different stages depending on application type. Use the Development Fee Guide to help you determine what's due when.
To avoid delays, it’s important to submit clear and complete applications from the start. Projects with few outstanding items may qualify for faster reviews. It's seven business days for 3rd cycle site submittals (like Administrative Site Review, Subdivisions, and Site Permit Reviews), and just two days for eligible residential building permits.
