MO Learning and Mandatory Training Requirements

Hey all!

Let’s talk MO Learning!!!  We are super proud to say that over half of our MODOC staff members are engaging in MO Learning coursework through LinkedIn Learning! However, there seems to be a lot of confusion surrounding the MO Learning process and what counts as credit toward staff mandatory training requirements.

MO Learning serves TWO main purposes for our staff.

  1. MO Learning allows us to take courses that, if on the approved Electives List, count toward our mandatory yearly training requirements for work.
  1. MO Learning is also a fringe benefit of employment. Our Governor and his team want state employees to have access to additional learning opportunities for personal growth. For this reason, state employees have access to MO Learning 24/7, not just at work.

We need for our employees to understand that not all MO Learning courses will be approved for credit toward your mandatory training requirements.  EFFECTIVE TODAY, only MO Learning courses on the approved Electives List (attached) will count toward your mandatory training requirements. We are making an allowance for previously completed courses only because of how much confusion there is on this issue.

(MO Learning training already in your TMS record that was added between January 1 and May 15 will count as elective credit. After May 15, all MO Learning must come from the Electives List from this day forward.)

In addition, effective today, we will NO LONGER accept submissions from non-training staff to have MO Learning courses approved and added to the Electives List. This will be a function of the Training Department MO Learning Committee only.  Courses already submitted as of today’s date will be considered, but none will be considered after today.

We will regularly add new courses to the list of electives that will count for training credit toward mandatory requirements and will send notifications when new courses are added.

Lastly, there are thousands and thousands of MO Learning courses. We are very fortunate as state employees to have a state government so committed to our personal growth as individuals as well as employees. Although we cannot approve all courses for training credit, we want to encourage you to keep MO Learning!!!

Very best to all!!
