DHSS UPDATES

► World Cup: In addition to the internal resources DHSS has provided for the World Cup preparations, DHSS is working to build a public-facing webpage with public health and prevention-based messaging. The CDC will also be launching a webpage by the end of May and will be available at cdc.gov/soccer.
► Human Trafficking Trainings: The Missouri Attorney General’s Office offers three free training sessions for people who work on the front lines with human trafficking victims. Attendees will receive a field guide resource manual. Everyone is welcome to attend all three training sessions, but at a minimum, the June 17 session on interdiction is recommended.

► Tobacco Free Workplace Toolkit, from DHSS (link)
► DHSS Website: DHSS has been working to build a new website at health.mo.gov. While a specific launch date has not been set, it is anticipated to go live in mid-June. DHSS has also been working toward digital ADA compliance, which has required removal and/or remediation of thousands of pages and documents on the public site. Please review your bookmarks or links on your websites, as some of those may no longer work when the new website goes live.
► Immunization Champions: Nominations for 2026 Immunization Champion for Missouri are due by Friday, May 15, 2026, at 5 p.m. Nomination form
► ADA Compliance Extension: The deadline to make government websites ADA compliant has been extended. (link)

► 4/28/2026: Burrell Behavioral Health, Preferred Family Healthcare and Clarity Healthcare centers across mid-Missouri will be renamed “Centerstone,” after a merger between its parent company, Brightli, and Centerstone in November 2025. (link) ► 4/27/2026: The Missouri Heart Center in Columbia will shut down May 6, and Boone Health establishes a new cardiology center. (link) ► 4/23/2026: The Missouri Behavioral Health Council and Missouri Primary Care Association join forces in the new Roy Blunt Center for Healthcare Integration & Innovation to provide a premier training hub for Missouri’s FQHCs and behavioral health centers. ► Racial Health Equity: Legal and Policy Cohort Call for Applications. The Network’s Racial Health Equity Legal and Policy Cohort (RHE Cohort) helps participants strengthen strategies, navigate complex legal landscapes, and build durable, equity-centered solutions that serve communities most impacted by structural racism. The Network invites public health and community-based organizations working on projects or issues that prioritize racial health equity to apply for participation in the program. ► May 21, 1:00 - 2:00 pm, Public Health Communications for Impact: Approaches to Strengthening Infrastructure, hosted by ASTHO and the Public Health Communications Collaborative. Learn about a new guide designed to help agencies strengthen their internal infrastructure and coordination for maximum impact. Health department panelists will share real-world strategies for building the foundational systems and processes necessary to effectively communicate the value of public health investments. Register
► May 28, SDOH and Chronic Disease Prevention and Management. This session will introduce the portion of the CY26 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule that includes services to address health related social needs: Community Health Integration (CHI), Principal Illness Navigation (PIN) and Principal Illness NavigationPeer Support (PIN-PS) services. Participants will understand how each service is defined, provider and patient eligibility requirements and billing and documentation specifications. This session will emphasize the clinical and financial benefits of pursuing this reimbursement pathway, highlight sample workflows and provide best practices for submitting services for reimbursement. ► Jun 23, 1:00 pm, PHAB refreshed Standards and Measures Launch. Guided by extensive feedback from the field and years of data, these updates help users navigate the refined Standards & Measures, pursue continuous quality improvement, and reduce documentation burden. ► Jul 29, Overdose Fatality Review Summit, hosted by DHSS Overdose Data to Action in States team and Overdose Response Strategy (ORS) partners. On site training in Jefferson City for up to 100 Missouri LPHA staff and local partners (coroners/medical examiners, public safety, EMS, hospital ER, behavioral health) to increase the number of local overdose fatality review (OFR) boards in Missouri. Learn what an OFR is and how it can be used to guide overdose prevention and response within a community. Identify local partnerships to establish and conduct OFRs, understand overdose data systems and how to use the data to effectively guide the OFR process, understand how to prioritize and select cases for review, and see how an OFR operates. Register by June 30.
► Sep 1 – 2, Fall Preparedness Summit, in Jefferson City, hosted by DHSS’ Office of Emergency Coordination with the Public Health Emergency Preparedness (PHEP) Program and the Hospital Preparedness Program (HPP). This will replace the traditional Fall Planners Meeting. Location, detailed agenda, and session times are being finalized, but attendees can expect engaging sessions on emergency preparedness and networking opportunities with partners across the state. Additional details, including a registration link, will be shared closer to the date.
