Brain Infection: DHSS reports that the hospitalized patient who contracted a brain-eating amoeba after tubing in the Lake of the Ozarks passed away on Tuesday. 8/20/2025 (link)
Employ Older Workers Week: DHSS is accepting nomination's for the state's Outstanding Older Worker of the Year until Sept. 2. Missouri’s “Outstanding Older Worker of the Year” award program seeks to honor a Missouri resident who is 55 or older, employed at least 20 hours a week, and displays dependability and new skills on the job. The winner will be recognized at a ceremony during National Employ Older Workers Week in Jefferson City, held on Sept. 24 at the State Capitol. (link)
Vaccination Portal: Missourians can now securely review, download and share their immunization records through the Docket® smartphone app and web platform. The service expands digital access for school, travel, health and personal use, streamlining how individuals manage their personal vaccination information. (link) (fact sheet)
Sexual Assault Exams via Telehealth: The DHSS Office on Women’s Health launched the Sexual Assault Forensic Exams via Telehealth Network (SAFEvT). The SAFEvT Network provides telehealth support to hospitals that do not have forensic nurses available 24/7. It is organized in a hub-and-spoke model with multiple contracted hub sites providing around-the-clock support to their assigned satellite hospitals. (link)

DHSS Website Refresh: The DHSS Office of Public Information will be on the Aug. 26 LPHA call to talk about progress on the new website that will launch in 2026 as well as accessibility rules that government entities will be required to follow.
