Real-Time Labor Market Summary
The Missouri Economic Research and Information Center
(MERIC) has just released its January 2015
Missouri Real Time Labor Market Summary, an analysis of the Missouri labor market over the past 60 days. Some of the summary’s top findings include:
 ► The
total number of new job postings totaled 40,829 for the state.
► The
industry with the most job postings was Hospitals.
►
Almost three-fourths (71 percent) of the job postings were permanent, full-time
positions.
|
The summary also breaks down the job postings into NOW, NEXT,
and LATER occupations, depending upon the level of experience and education
needed. NOW occupations typically
require less than one month to no more than 12 months of on-the-job training; NEXT occupations usually require more
than one year on-the-job training and can additionally need specific work
experience; and LATER occupations
usually require a bachelor’s degree and possibly specific work experience.

*Data for this
analysis has been extracted using the Burning Glass Technologies, Labor/Insight tool, which collects information from over 35,000 web sources, including job
boards, newspapers, and large and small employer websites. While this analysis
presents a broad picture of hiring activity and serves as a measure of labor
demand, it does not capture openings that are filled through other networks.
