Get involved: Join a board or commission
How might YOU help change Richfield? In as little as 6 hours a year, you could help serve your community as a member of a board or commission. Applications are now open for both youth and adult commissioners and board members. In exchange for your time and effort, you have an opportunity to influence the policies, projects and future of our community. Vacancies are available for the following commissions: Arts, Charter, Civil Service, Community Services, Friendship City, Human Rights, Planning, Sustainability, Transportation and the Advisory Board of Health.

Post Office parking lot closed this weekend
Beginning Friday October 7, the Richfield Post Office will be getting new driveway aprons as part of the 65th Street Reconstruction project. The post office’s customer parking lot will be closed from 12 p.m. on Friday, October 7, until 12 p.m. on Monday, October 10. The post office will remain open during its normal business hours.
While the parking lot is closed, customers are encouraged to either walk to the post office, or park on Rae Drive or further east on 65th Street while the parking lot is closed. There is another drive-up postal box located at 1212 E 66th St (near VCA Animal Care).

Saturday: The Great Pumpkin Giveaway
The city will celebrate fall at the annual Great Pumpkin Giveaway on Saturday, October 8, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Fairwood Park (6700 Logan Ave). Each household can select one pumpkin, and enjoy bounce houses, a photo booth, snacks, warm drinks and prizes! Supplies are limited and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Fire won't wait. Plan your escape.
It's Fire Prevention Week, and the Richfield Fire Department wants all residents think about their household's fire escape plan. Today’s homes burn faster than ever. You may have as little as two minutes to safely escape a home fire from the time the smoke alarm sounds. Your ability to get out of a home during a fire depends on early warning from smoke alarms and advanced planning. Use the video above, and the links below to get your household is prepared.

Farmers Market season wraps up October 15
Make a plan to visit Richfield's bustling Farmers Market before the season ends on October 15. With only two weeks remaining, the market has something for everyone: free yoga, live music, master gardeners, activities for kids, engagement activities, plus delicious food and produce. The market is located at the Veterans Park pavilion (6335 Portland Avenue), and is open on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

In case you missed it....
Our Public Works crews have been sweeping through Richfield on their first pass of street sweeping. The crews will sweep the entire city three or four times before the snow flies. Give them a wave!
