Plan ahead for Hwy. 5 construction project in front of MSP

around the airport

Starting in April, major roadwork will occur on Hwy. 5, which provides access to MSP Airport's Terminal 1.

Road resurfacing, along with ramp and bridge repair, will lead to detours and delays for airport travelers.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation encourages airport users to build an extra hour into their travel time to MSP.

Detailed information about the project and strategies for navigating detours can be found at aroundtheairport.com.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz speaking at the announcement of a new REAL ID information booth at MSP Airport.

Minnesota air travelers flying out of MSP Airport’s Terminal 1 can save themselves a trip to a DVS, deputy registrar or driver’s license agent office and apply for their REAL ID at the airport.

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety Driver and Vehicle Services division (DPS-DVS) has opened a REAL ID office inside Terminal 1 in the Airport Mall area across from Stone Arch restaurant near the entrance to Concourse G. The goal is to provide a convenient way for air travelers to get their questions answered and apply for their REAL ID.

The office will accept REAL ID applications Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. by appointment only. Minnesotan’s can schedule their appointment for the day they fly out of Terminal 1 online at drive.mn.gov

MSP Airport named best in N. America, fourth year running

airport

For the fourth straight year, Airports Council International (ACI) recently named Minneapolis-St. Paul International (MSP) the Best Airport in North America in the 25-40 million passenger category.

Airports are scored based on customer surveys conducted at airports in 91 countries around the world. Customers answer questions about 34 key performance indicators to measure their satisfaction with their airport experience. Surveys are conducted through ACI’s Air Service Quality program, the industry’s leading airport customer experience benchmarking tool.

“It is gratifying that year after year travelers rate Minneapolis-St. Paul International higher than any other airport of its size in North America and among the very best in the world,” said Metropolitan Airports Commission CEO Brian Ryks. “I credit MSP’s continued strong performance not only to the very talented workforce at the Metropolitan Airports Commission, but also to the effective partnerships the Commission has built with airlines, concessionaires, federal agencies, the Airport Foundation MSP and many other organizations operating MSP. At the end of the day, MSP stands out because of the 21,000 people who work there, take pride in their airport and provide the high quality experience travelers want.”
