The Cultural, Faith, and Disability Communities COVID-19 Update is being sent to the following three MDH mailing lists to reduce duplication:
- Cultural, Faith, and Disability Communities COVID-19 Updates
- MN Immigrant and Refugee Health Announcements
- The Center for Health Equity
Today's COVID-19 updates include:
Status of COVID-19 in Minnesota:
Updated Wednesday, March 4, 2022
- Total positive including reinfections: 1,417,811
- Total positive people: 1,356,313
- Newly reported cases: 833
- Total deaths: 12,183
- Newly reported deaths: 11
- Total cases requiring hospitalization: 60,679
- Total cases hospitalized in ICU: 11,248
Numbers are cumulative since Jan. 20, 2020.
The number of lab-confirmed positive tests among Minnesota residents will be updated daily on Situation Update for Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) with test results from the previous day. The page also includes a map of counties with confirmed cases, and more.
This total reflects only the results from laboratory testing. There are more cases in Minnesota, and the virus is circulating in communities. It is important for everyone to follow advice on community mitigation and social distancing to help us flatten the case curve.
The Governor has launched a public dashboard which includes race data of cases: Minnesota COVID-19 Public Dashboard.
Vaccine Data:
Updated February 28, 2022
- People with at least one vaccine dose: 3,880,020
- People with completed vaccine series: 3,661,384
Vaccination Breakthrough Weekly Update:
Updated weekly, on Mondays at 11 a.m.
Updated Monday, February 28,2022
- Total number of fully vaccinated Minnesotans (as of 1/23/22 *): 3,571,136
- Total number of vaccine breakthrough cases: 367,186
- Percent of fully vaccinated people: 10.282%
- Total cases hospitalized**: 9,836
- Percent of fully vaccinated people: 0.275%
- Total deaths***: 1,777
- Percent of fully vaccinated people: 0.050%
*Fully vaccinated means that at least 14 days have passed since a person completed their COVID-19 vaccination series. A complete series can mean one or two doses of vaccine have been given, depending on the product. The number of fully vaccinated people will not be the same as the number with a complete vaccination series found on COVID-19 Vaccine Data. Case reporting and vaccine reporting have delays in addition to the time it takes to match case data to the Minnesota Immunization Information Connection. Case counts will typically reflect cases reported one or more weeks ago. ** Total cases hospitalized includes patients admitted for any reason within 14 days of a positive SARS-CoV-2 test. *** Total deaths (also known as total deaths with laboratory testing) are deaths due to COVID-19 with a positive PCR test (confirmed case) or antigen test (probable case) for SARS-CoV-2, and either COVID-19 is listed on the death certificate or clinical history/autopsy findings that provide evidence that the death is related to COVID-19 without an alternative cause (e.g., drowning, homicide, trauma, etc).
