The Stop Food Waste Challenge has ended! Thank you for taking the time to focus on wasting less food, putting more money in your pocket, and acting on climate change. Throughout the challenge, you spent a lot of time learning and connecting with others, which helps all of us have a greater and longer lasting impact.
Tune in next week for a recap of our results.
Please help us improve the challenge by sending us your feedback! Fill out this feedback survey to let us know how the challenge went for you, and email zwc@hennepin.us with any questions.
We hope this challenge was just one step on your journey to a lower waste lifestyle and that you continue to practice the food-saving habits you learned.
Stay on track with your goals
Follow these tips to help you stick to your current goals and set new ones even after the challenge ends.
Be realistic
Start small and build on your success. For example, if you aren’t used to meal planning, start by writing a list of go-to meals and plan one or two into your week.
|
Be specific
Think about the specific changes you need to make to prevent wasting your food. Your household is unique, so your go-to actions might be different than your friend’s.
|
Measure your progress
Keep tabs on how much food goes in the trash, the weight of your organics bin, or how often you need to empty it. If you notice it starts creeping up instead of down, take note and think about what you could do differently.
|
Don’t give up
Take time to re-establish your habits if you drift off course. Every week is different, which means there’s always a chance to adjust. If you do notice your trash or compost bin starts filling up with wasted food, set a date to recommit to your goals and try again!
