New Executive Order Regarding Elective Care

Governor Walz has issued a new Executive Order related to resuming elective care. (Executive Order 20-51). The Executive Order is effective after approval by the Executive Council tomorrow. Elective procedures could theoretically start May 11, assuming the facility has complied with the Executive Order, which requires a detailed facility plan. The full Executive Order should be published tomorrow.

MDH has issued guidance for resuming elective care and has directed the dental guidance back to the Board of Dentistry and CDC Guidance. The Board has previously issued guidance on infection control and engineering controls that you can employ in your clinic.

We have created a facility template plan that could be useful to you but you may also create your own. Dentists will need tailor the plan to the clinic, just as we do with OSHA BloodBorne Pathogen and infection control plans.

We continue to distribute N95's throughout the state at this time however, as a reminder, we are not a PPE supplier and are doing this as a collaborative effort with the state of MN to better protect dental professionals.

We continue to explore PPE supply channels for dental professionals and will continue to share resources as they become available.

The facility plan DOES NOT need to be sent to the Board but would need to be available upon request of the Board in the future.
