ChamberofCommerce.org named Troy the sixth best city in the nation for retirees, and the best in the Midwest. Troy was praised for its “low crime, great residential neighborhoods and quirky local character”. Among the other factors measured for this study were overall poverty rate, percentage of the population with a bachelor’s degree or higher, low rate of violent crime, and the high number of physicians and police officers per 100,000 residents.
