October 2021 Maps and Data Updates

It’s hard to believe it’s already November. At EGLE, our GIS teams have been working hard to bring you lots of great new and updated content. We’ve “renewed” our Maps and Data Portal landing page to feature one of our new web apps, “RenewMI.” We’ve also added all our new content to our “All Maps & Apps” page and our “Open Data” page. Keep reading to learn more about what’s new!

Maps and Apps

Last month, we published two new apps and updated three apps.

TMDL Watershed Screening Tool

Published: October 25, 2021.
Web Application viewer for U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) approved E. coli, PCB, Sediment, Phosphorus, Nitrate and Dissolved Oxygen Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs) Watersheds. This new viewer not only allows you to view all the TMDL data we released last month, but it also features a screening tool widget so that you can locate TMDLs near you. In addition to the link above, you can find the app on the EGLE Open Data Portal’s “All Maps & Apps” page. See our “Open Data” page to download the data behind this app, as well as view it in table format.

RenewMI Project Viewer

Published: October 12, 2021.
The RenewMI Project Viewer is a web application that provides an easy way to view cleanup and redevelopment projects in your area. The viewer was recently redesigned from a previous story map format to an interactive map and list that is searchable and filterable. The new app went live on October 12. In addition to the link above, you can find the app on the EGLE Open Data Portal’s “All Maps & Apps” page.

Michigan PFAS Sites

Last Updated: October 27, 2021. Find confirmed PFAS sites throughout Michigan and learn more about each investigation. This app was updated to include a link to download the data behind the map, now available on our “Open Data” page. In addition to the link above, you can find the app on the EGLE Open Data Portal’s “All Maps & Apps” page.

Michigan Water Infrastructure Financing Map

Last Updated: October 6, 2021. Learn general information about projects funded through the Clean Water State Revolving Fund and Drinking Water State Revolving Fund with this map. This map was updated to include pictures for some projects, additional project information, and links to the data, now available on our “Open Data” page. In addition to the link above, you can find the app on the EGLE Open Data Portal’s “All Maps & Apps” page.

Dams Regulated by the State of Michigan

Last Updated: October 5, 2021. Michigan dams that are regulated by the State. This includes Part 315 regulated dams and Part 307 legal lake level control structures. This app was updated to include the 2021 updated data published in August. In addition to the link above, you can find the app on the EGLE Open Data Portal’s “All Maps & Apps” page. Last month, we published two new open data items.

Michigan PFAS Sites
- Published: October 25, 2021.
  The Michigan PFAS Sites layer is the official list of PFAS sites in Michigan. This data is updated as new PFAS Sites are encountered.
- Also found in the Michigan PFAS Sites web map.
Michigan Water Infrastructure Financing Locations
- Published: October 6, 2021. These locations include general information about projects funded through the Clean Water State Revolving Fund and Drinking Water State Revolving Fund.
- Also found in the Michigan Water Infrastructure Locations web map.
