Training Log

This newsletter provides training for any staff who assist with WIC sales in your store. Please have all staff handling WIC transactions and WIC benefits read this newsletter and complete the Training Log. Please keep this for your records as WIC staff will check your training logs during on-site visits.

Produce Mapping

Mapping is critical for produce which have store generated UPCs which are not recognized by the WIC Approved Products List (APL). UPCs for fresh produce items frequently change and UPCs not in the WIC APL are denied. Please assist WIC families purchasing fresh produce with UPCs by mapping any new products received.

Changes to WIC

New WIC Staff

Policy Updates

There has been updates to the following WIC Vendor Policies:

• VM-1 Vendor Selection and Authorization (PDF) 14.2.1. Change in Corporate Parent with five or more chain stores with no change in location, store name, staff, system, food, and banking, shall notify the State Agency of the plan 30 days prior to the effective date.  A Vendor Agreement will be provided.
• VM-6 Vendor Sanction System (PDF) Civil Monetary Penalty (CMP) Inflation Update
• Appendix VM-1-A Minimum Inventory Requirements (PDF) Authorized WIC stores are now required to stock at least three varieties of vegetables, an increase from the previously required two varieties.
• Appendix VM-1-B Infant Formula Authorized List (PDF)
• Appendix VM-1-C Vendor Agreement (PDF)
• Appendix VM-2-B Vendor Interactive Training Attended (PDF)

WIC Food Packages Updates

• An exciting new WIC food package is on its way for 2026, which would bring about changes in allowed foods, sizes, and more. Learn more here about some of the new changes in store for WIC.
