From the Editor
Summer is a great time to appreciate Talbot County’s agricultural heritage and the people who keep it alive. Our farms and open spaces have shaped this community for generations, and they continue to play an important role today.
Whether you’re picking up fresh produce at a farmers market, visiting the County Fair, or just enjoying the view across a field, you’re part of that story. Let’s remember the value of preserving our farmland and supporting local growers, not just in July, but all year long.
As we mark Talbot250, it’s the perfect time to honor these traditions and reflect on how far we’ve come as a community. It’s also a chance to celebrate our volunteer fire departments, whose service and commitment have helped keep our towns and farms safe for generations.
Enjoy the season and all the good things it brings.
Warm regards,
Sarah Kilmon Communications Coordinator Talbot County Government

As we reflect on the many ways our community is preserving and celebrating our shared history, we are proud to highlight the incredible work happening across our region. This year, several local organizations received funding through the State of Maryland’s Maryland250 Grant Program to support important heritage projects. We congratulate:
-
The Historical Society of Talbot County
-
The Maryland Society of the Sons of the American Revolution, Col. Tench Tilghman Chapter
-
Beech Works
These organizations are helping ensure that stories of our past will inspire generations to come.
Looking ahead, we are excited to share that another round of funding is now available through the Maryland 250 Grant Program. We strongly encourage local nonprofits, heritage groups, and civic organizations to explore this opportunity and consider submitting a proposal.
You can learn more and apply here: https://mdtwofifty.maryland.gov/grants-applications/
If your organization plans to apply, please let us know. We are committed to supporting these efforts however we can as Talbot County continues to honor our remarkable history.
