COUNTY COUNCIL CONVENES LEGISLATIVE SESSION; APPROVES JOINT SIGNATURE LETTER TO WMATA

During Tuesday’s County Council session, Council Members voted to approve a Joint Signature Letter with County Executive Angela Alsobrooks, to support maintaining the current Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) service hours.  This plan of operation reflects reduced late-night train service and additional bus service, allowing for long-term preventative maintenance of the Metrorail system.  Good News!  On Thursday, February 28, 2019, WMATA announced it will continue the current service hours and preventative maintenance program for FY 2020, consistent with the Joint Letter approved by the Council on Tuesday.  READ WMATA’s Approved Resolution, and WATCH Tuesday’s Council Session.
