Adopt or Foster A Senior Pet Today
Did You Know?
Senior dogs, ages seven (7) and over, are available for adoption from our shelter with reduced fees, year-round! Prince George's County residents only pay the $10 County license fee, regardless if they are altered or not (FREE for out-of-county residents).
Our senior dogs make the best pets because they still have lots of love to give. Typically, older dogs are usually house-trained, require less attention, and have lower energy then puppies - meaning less destructive chewing behaviors.
Check out the Animal Foundation 10 top reasons to adopt a senior pet - you will not be disappointed.
Help us with our shelters senior population! The benefits to housing a senior:
Low to mid-level energy
Usually housetrained or have some training
Past the destructive/puppy stage
Have lots of love to give!
Our ASD staff are looking for temporary fosters for our shelters most susceptible animals - our senior pets! If you cannot commit to adopting yet, please consider fostering!

Find Room in Your Heart for Maxwell!
Are you looking for a more sophisticated guy with gray around the muzzle?
Meet Maxwell (A543780), a five-year-old male Presa Canario mix. Maxwell is a handsome, tiger-striped heartthrob! He is a good boy who has mastered "sit" and has a soft spot for treats. We recommend a meet-and-greet with your resident dog to help ensure compatibility.
Maxwell (A543780), a perfect medium size, is eagerly searching for his forever valentine - could it be you? Come meet him and adopt a best friend!
Maxwell is available by calling 301-780-7200 or emailing adoptpgcpets@co.pg.md.us (to adopt) or fosterPGCpets@co.pg.md.us (to foster).
Will You Be Our Valentine?
Sister Kittens Will Steal Your Heart
We have two kitten sisters - Supernova (A540547) and Aurora (A540548) - who were sent into foster as they were too timid and “spicy” to be adopted. Their foster parent has done a wonderful job socializing them. This is one of the many reasons foster parents are important to the shelter!
If you would like to apply to be an approved foster, please email fosterpgcpets@co.pg.md.us
 Meet Supernova and Aurora
We would be happiest being adopted and staying together!
I am Supernova (A540547), a black and white female "tuxedo" kitten with green eyes, white cheeks, white paws, and a white belly. I am about six months old and love to run and play with my sister, Aurora, and another cat in our foster home.
I am Aurora (A540548), just like my sister, I am a black and white female "tuxedo" kitten with green eyes, a white nose, white paws, and a white belly. I am also about six months old and an energetic kitty, loving to play with my sister, another cat in our foster home, and my human foster mom.
We would love to be adopted together or placed in a home with another friendly cat. Some of our favorite toys are jingly balls, string, and a cat tunnel. We like pets along our back but aren't big fans of being held... yet. We can be a little shy and skittish at first but feed us a little wet food on a spoon a few times a day or dangle some fun string and sneak in some pets at the same time, and we'll become quick friends with you. We're also litter box superstars who are ready to join your family!
Both Supernova (A540547) and Aurora (A540548) are available for adoption by calling 301-780-7200 or emailing adoptpgcpets@co.pg.md.us.

This Week's Furry "Fotos" Meet Miss Peaches
Miss Peaches had three kittens under our shed. Once they were weaned, we trapped the kittens and got them inside our home. Then we trapped Mom and got her fixed. She will not come inside but hangs around for food and company. After four years, she decided that getting a human touch was a good thing after all.
You can find a new best friend like Miss Peaches! Check out the available pets and for more information on how to adopt or foster, visit www.princegeorgespets4us.com.
