TESTING PROCESS:
In-Person (All Positions) - All testing will be completed on Saturday at the Ocean City Police Department. All applicants will complete a written examination. Police Officer applicants will then have to complete the physical abilities portion and interview. Public Safety Officer applicants will only have to complete an interview.
All police officer applicants must submit a signed physician’s waiver prior to completing the physical abilities test.
On-Line (Public Safety Officer Only) – If you’re unable to attend an in-person testing, you may complete the written examination on-line and have a virtual interview. In an effort to streamline our testing process and alleviate the financial burden of traveling for applicant testing, our written testing and interview will be conducted online. The written test is a minimal cost compared to traveling to take an in-person test, incurring lodging, meals, and other travel expenses. This will allow the applicant to take the online test at their location and time of choice. Upon successful completion of the written test and virtual interview, applicants will then be provided a background investigation packet to submit.
HIRING PROCESS:
Candidates must submit an application through Police App (www.policeapp.com) with preliminary background form attached. Once you submit an application, the applicant has 90 days to attend one of the testing dates or take the on-line written examination (Public Safety Officers Only). If the applicant doesn’t attend a testing date or take written examination within 90 days, then the applicant will be removed from the process.
After submission of the application the applicant must successfully complete a written examination, structured interview, physical abilities test (police officer applicants only), background investigation, and medical examination.
In order to complete the on-line written test and virtual interview, applicants will need access to a computer with camera, and show a State issued driver's license or identification card.
