Message from the Executive Director
Scott Lederer
Dear Maryland Real Estate Professionals,
I am truly honored to be appointed Executive Director of the Maryland Real Estate Commission, and I am excited to serve in this capacity alongside such a dedicated team. I have been fortunate to have worked in real estate since 1979 and have experience in many different roles across the industry. I am eager to bring that wealth of knowledge and perspective to my work at the Commission.
My top priorities are strengthening communication and enhancing our relationship with the 47,000 real estate licensees across our great state. Whether you are a new Salesperson or a seasoned Broker, I want you to know that the Commission is here to support you. We are committed to creating an open and collaborative environment where we can work together to improve the profession and ensure that Maryland's real estate industry remains strong, fair, and transparent.
In the coming months, we will roll out initiatives designed to foster better communication, provide clearer guidance, and make it easier for you to stay informed. Bringing back The Commission Check is one way we intend to do this.
Your feedback will be invaluable in helping us shape the future of real estate regulation in Maryland.
I look forward to working with all of you and am confident that we can strengthen the Maryland real estate community together.
Thank you for your continued dedication to professionalism and excellence in our industry.

Delegating Wisely:
Assigning Tasks to Unlicensed Assistants
The Commission knows that in this challenging market, real estate professionals can use all of the help they can get to assist in transactions, listings, client relations, and a smooth-running office. But sometimes in such a fast moving climate, it's hard to remember what you can and cannot depend on your unlicensed assistants to perform on your behalf.
Visit our website to find a helpful listing of guidelines about the use of unlicensed individual.
