2025 Scoop From You(th) Challenge -
Piece of Mind
The County of San Diego is excited to launch the 2025 Scoop From You(th) Challenge: Piece of Mind, inviting youth and young adults ages 12–25 to submit original art that explores mental health, reduces stigma, and inspires others. Participants can submit up to three entries (one per category) by August 30, 2025, for a chance to win up to $900 and be honored at a special recognition event. Community members, educators, and organizations are encouraged to help spread the word!

Eye Health Campaign
The Vision Council Foundation announced the launch of its 2025 Back-to-School Eye Health Campaign, a nationwide initiative encouraging families to prioritize comprehensive eye exams and healthy vision habits as the new school year begins. Check out the free, downloadable back-to-school promotional toolkit filled with ready-to-use resources to help spread the word about the importance of children's eye health.

Kick the Flu +2 Summit
Join the San Diego Immunization Coalition for the 21st annual Kick the Flu +2 Summit. Join the free summit on Wednesday, September 10, from 8:30 AM–1:00 PM, open to clinicians, health professionals, educators, and public health advocates. Learn about the latest flu, COVID-19, and RSV vaccine updates, data trends, and strategies to boost immunization efforts in San Diego. You can register to join in-person at the County Operations Center, or register to join virtually.

Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day Grants
Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day honors the legacy of activist Ruby Bridges by encouraging students to walk to school and engage in a day of dialogue about anti-racism and anti-bullying on November 14. To support Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day in 2025, the Safe Routes Partnership will be awarding mini-grants of $500 and $1,000 to support local celebrations. Applications are due by August 22, 2025.

COI Mini-Grant Applications
The San Diego County Childhood Obesity Initiative (COI) is now accepting applications for their 2025 Mini-Grants. A total of $10,000 in mini-grants is available for short-term projects that promote healthy food, physical activity, or healthy environments. An additional $30,000, in partnership with the Kaiser Hospital Foundation, will fund projects supporting human milk and breastfeeding. Applications are due by Friday, August 22, 2025.

Project Ready is a four-year program for Black and Brown students focused on mentorship, leadership development, college and career prep, cultural and historical literacy, college tours, competitions, and more. Applications are due August 31, 2025, and the program kicks off this fall!

State Board of Education - Student Board Members
The California State Board of Education is currently accepting applications for a student board member for the 2026-2027 term. All California public school students in good standing who will be seniors during the 2026-2027 academic year are eligible to apply. Applications are due September 19, 2025.
