 SANDAG Launches New Transportation Service in
Southeastern San Diego
Local leaders and community partners will join SANDAG to celebrate the launch of Southeastern Connect, a four-year pilot program that will offer a new, fully electric, on-demand microtransit service in the neighborhoods of Chollas View, Emerald Hills, and Mount Hope within the City of San Diego.

 County Closes Three Parks in August to Protect Hikers from Heat
As summer temperatures rise, the County of San Diego has closed three parks that it shuts down every year for the month of August to protect residents during what is often the hottest time of the year.
 County Confirms First Measles Case of 2025
County public health officials have confirmed the first case of measles in the region this year in a teenage resident who had recently traveled overseas.

NEW! Help Shape San Diego’s Emergency Preparedness
The County of San Diego’s Office of Emergency Services (OES) is seeking community input on its draft Community Outreach and Engagement Strategic Plan. The plan guides how OES connects with residents before, during, and after emergencies, using FEMA’s Whole Community Approach to ensure inclusive, community-driven planning.
Public feedback will help improve the plan by identifying gaps, addressing community needs, and strengthening trust and local partnerships.
The draft is open for comment from August 8th - September 5th, 2025.

FY 2024–25 County of San Diego Behavioral Health Services Community Engagement Summary
The UCSD Health Partnership, in collaboration with San Diego County Behavioral Health Services (BHS), launched a community-wide engagement effort to inform updates to the Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) Three-Year Plan (2023–2026). Over 200 individuals participated through interviews, focus groups, listening sessions, and resource booths, highlighting barriers like long wait times, geographic disparities, lack of awareness, housing instability, and provider shortages.

Scoop From You(th) Challenge – Piece of Mind
The County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) invites San Diego youth and young adults (ages 12–25) to participate in the 2025 Scoop From You(th) Challenge: “Piece of Mind.” This challenge encourages participants to use art to explore emotions, increase self-esteem, promote emotional resilience, and support overall wellbeing. Art submissions may include graphic design, painting, illustration, poetry, short story, dance, music, performance, film, photography, and/or animation. Participants can win up to $900.
