I-275 DIAMOND GRINDING UPDATE (CAMPBELL/KENTON COUNTY LINE TO U.S. 25 OVERPASS)
Sunday, May 5 through Thursday, May 9: I-275 westbound right lane(s) will be closed for sawing/sealing operations, drain cleaning and shoulder work.
Once westbound is complete, crews will move to eastbound right lane(s) being closed for sawing/sealing operations and shoulder work.
NOTE: Nightly lane closures are permitted with this project: a single lane closure at 8 p.m., expanding to a double lane closure beginning at 10 p.m. All lanes must be reopened by 6 a.m.
These dates/times are weather permitting. KYTC will advise if any delays are incurred due to inclement weather. Further information regarding this construction project can be located in the Kenton County section of the Roadshow.
I-275 RESURFACING UPDATE (HEBRON TO MINEOLA PIKE)
I-275 Eastbound
Monday, May 6 and Tuesday, May 7: reduced width at ramps (11 ft. minimum) during daytime hours for chip and seal operations.
Monday, May 6 through Thursday, May 9: various lane closures from 8:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. for loops/piezos work.
Friday, May 10: a single left lane closure from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. throughout the project area for permanent tape and markers work. Additionally, there will be a double left lane closure from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for similar work.
I-275 Westbound
Friday, May 3: double left lane closure from 8:30 p.m. to 7 a.m. for diamond grinding.
Saturday, May 4: double left lane closure from 8:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. for diamond grinding. Additionally, there will be a double right lane closure from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. just past the Mineola Pike exit for saw/seal operations. Motorists should expect the left two lanes to be closed approaching Mineola Pike, followed by a traffic shift.
Monday, May 6 through Thursday, May 9:double left lane closure from 8:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. for diamond grinding.
Tuesday, May 7 through Thursday, May 9: westbound ramps will be at partial width (11 ft. minimum) between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. for chip and seal operations.
Friday, May 10 and Saturday May 11: double left lane closure from 8:30 p.m. to 7 a.m. for diamond grinding.

VARIOUS COUNTIES:
Weather permitting, starting Monday, May 6, contractors will install pavement striping and thermoplastic markings on various interchanges and exit ramps in Boone, Campbell, Carroll, Gallatin, Grant, and Kenton counties in an effort to improve safety.
Current Location of Work:
- Gallatin County at the interchange of KY 1039 and U.S. 42. Once this location is complete, crews will transition to other interchanges in Gallatin County.
Work will be performed from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Additional crews will be mobilized late spring into early summer. At this time, work will also transition to nighttime operations to limit traffic impacts.
Lane closures will be in place during work hours. At locations with three or more lanes, one lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained. At locations with two lanes, alternating one-way traffic will be maintained with a flagger on site to direct motorists. Traffic on exit ramps will be maintained at partial-width (10 ft. minimum) lanes.

BOONE - KENTON COUNTIES:

KY 536 (Mt. Zion Road) Corridor 13.2 – 14.7/ 0 – 1 mile-marker – On Thursday, May 9, crews will perform a traffic switch on KY 536 between the 13.2 mile point and 14.7 mile point, a distance of 1.5 miles. Once the traffic switch is completed, the road will be in its final traffic configuration.
Once traffic has been switched, crews will begin paving the final surface in the project area on Monday, May 13. Motorists should expect various lane closures in place throughout the project area. Two-way traffic will be maintained when possible. Additionally, flaggers will be used near the two roundabouts in the project area.

GRANT - KENTON COUNTIES:

Interstate 75 – 164-169.4 mile points – A resurfacing project is underway on I-75 from one mile south of the Crittenden exit to the Boone/Kenton Co. line. Crews will be working on pavement repairs and resurfacing, drainage repairs, guardrail work, cross slope correction and erosion repairs.
Crews worked on the northbound lanes in this section of I-75 in 2023. In 2024, crews will address the southbound portion of the project. In addition, some remaining work on northbound lanes.
This project is expected to be completed by November 2024.
I-75 Southbound
Beginning Wednesday, May 1, Crews will be switching traffic to the left side of the southbound lanes through Kenton County. Traffic will then flip to the right side of the southbound lanes in Grant County. During daytime hours, two lanes of traffic will be maintained.
I-75 southbound through the project area will be down to a single lane during the overnight working hours of 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. through Sunday, May 5, to allow crews space to install a concrete barrier. Crews will open a second lane of southbound traffic at 6 a.m.
Motorists should expect delays during the overnight hours for the next three nights, and should find an alternate route.
Once the barrier wall has been installed, two lanes of traffic will be maintained at all times in the project area. Motorists should expect this traffic configuration to be in place for about one month.
Additionally, as of Wednesday, May 1, the weigh station on I-75 southbound north of Crittenden is now closed. The weigh station will be closed for 30 days while crews focus on rehabilitating the outside shoulder, right lane and a portion of the center lane.
BOONE COUNTY:

KY 14 (Verona Mudlick Road) – 2.1 – 2.3 milepoint – A bridge maintenance project on the KY 14 overpass over I-71 will begin on Monday, May 6. Crews will be onsite Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. until the project is complete. Traffic will be reduced to one lane and temporary traffic signals will be in place at each end of the work zone. The lane closure and temporary signals will be in place 24/7 until the project is complete.
The project is expected to be completed by Monday, May 13.

KY 16 (Glencoe-Verona Road) – 0.0 – 2.4 mile point – A resurfacing project on KY 16 from the Gallatin County line to KY 14/491 is in progress. Base failure repairs are complete. Weather permitting, crews will begin milling on Monday, May 6, with paving to follow. A single lane closure will be in place from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. with flaggers on-site to direct motorists around the work zone. The project has a completion date of June 30, 2024.

KY 1925 (Big Bone Road) – 3.1 – 5.0 mile point – A resurfacing project on KY 1925 from Rice Pike to KY 536 (Hathaway Road) is in progress. Base failure repairs are complete. Weather permitting, crews will begin milling on Monday, May 13, with paving to follow. A single lane closure will be in place from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. with flaggers on-site to direct motorists around the work zone. The project has a completion date of June 30, 2024.
CAMPBELL COUNTY:

KY 915 (Licking Pike) at Scaffold Creek Bridge Crossing – 2.67 mile point – A bridge replacement project on KY 915 at the Scaffold Creek crossing is now complete.
- KY 36 E – 9.45 – 12.30 mile point – A resurfacing project is in progress on KY 36 E from the railroad crossing at KY 36 extending east towards Four Mile Road. Crews will be on-site from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. performing shoulder work and paving operations. Milling at the project site is expected to take place on Friday, May 10. Paving is expected to take place the week of Monday, May 13. A single lane closure will be in place during working hours with flaggers on-site to direct motorists around the work zone. Weather permitting, the project has a completion date of June 30, 2024.
CARROLL COUNTY:

KY 1226 – 1.7 – 3.7 mile point – A resurfacing project on KY 1226 from Windy Ridge Road (CR 1201) to U.S. 42 will begin on Monday, May 6. Crews will be on-site from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Construction signage will be installed throughout the project area the week of May 6. Guardrail removal/installation will follow then crews will begin milling and paving operations.
A single lane closure will be in place during working hours with flaggers on-site to direct motorists around the work zone. Weather permitting, the project has a completion date of June 15, 2024.
GALLATIN COUNTY:

KY 1992 (Steeles Bottom Road) – 0.0 – 4.0 mile points – A resurfacing project on a four mile stretch of Steeles Bottom Road is now complete.

KY 465 (Boone Road) – A resurfacing project on two section of KY 465 (From KY 1039 to Concrete Plant Lane & From William Jump Road to KY 455) is now complete.
HARRISON COUNTY:

Old Lair Road (CR 1124) – A bridge replacement project on Old Lair Road (County Route 1124) is in progress and a road closure is in place. The closure will remain in place until the end of May 2024. A signed detour is in place to guide motorsits around the work zone.
KENTON COUNTY:

I-71/75 Southbound at the Brent Spence Bridge – 191.36 – 191.63 mile points –This portion of the inspection is now complete. Crews will return to finish this inspection at the end of May.

Crescent Ave (City Route) – Transparent noise barriers are being installed along about 1,000 feet of the east side of Crescent Avenue between Fifth and Ninth Streets in Covington. Contractors are working on drilling and pouring concrete shafts. Concrete panels are due to be installed in June. Additionally, the transparent panels are expected to be installed beginning in July.

Various Roads near KY 1120 (W. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive/12th Street) – beginning Monday, May 6, there will be various lane/shoulder closures near KY 1120 in Covington. Crews are completing preliminary work associated with the Brent Spence Bridge Corridor project. Crews will work between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. The following traffic impacts will take place during those hours
-Left lane closure on Bullock Street heading south (motorists utilize middle lane to turn left on to 12th Street, or go straight on to I-71/75 southbound) (mile point 0.0 to 0.09) -Simon Kenton Way right lane closure -Simon Kenton Way left lane closure near Pike Street (motorists utilize middle lane to turn left on to Pike Street, or go straight on to I-71/75 northbound) -Right shoulder closure on exit ramp to KY 1120 (W. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive/12th Street) (mile points 0.1 to 0.28)
These daily lane/shoulder closures will be removed at the end of each working day. Weather permitting, work is scheduled to be completed by Friday, May 17.
