Traffic Advisory: Regional Roadway Striping Work to Begin Monday, May 6

Several interchanges to receive thermoplastic striping to increase safety

COVINGTON, Ky. (May 3, 2024) The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of a highway safety improvement project in various counties beginning on Monday, May 6.

Contractors will install pavement striping and thermoplastic markings on various interchanges and exit ramps in Boone, Campbell, Carroll, Gallatin, Grant, and Kenton counties in an effort to improve safety.

The contractor will mobilize a single crew to begin work in Gallatin County starting Monday, May 6, beginning at the interchange of KY 1039 and U.S. 42. Work will be performed from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Once this location is complete, crews will transition to other interchanges in Gallatin County.

Additional crews will be mobilized late spring into early summer. At this time, work will also transition to nighttime operations to limit traffic impacts.

Lane closures will be in place during work hours. At locations with three or more lanes, one lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained. At locations with two lanes, alternating one-way traffic will be maintained with a flagger on site to direct motorists. Traffic on exit ramps will be maintained at partial-width (10 ft. minimum) lanes.
