Empty V 80's Band - Bringing Back the 80's at Friday Fest, June 19th![]() Empty V 80's Band is a regional dance and party band that regularly tours the Louisville area. They are known for their MTV-era classics, pop, and rock anthems. Check out their setlists on the Empty V 80s Band Facebook Page for a look at the energy of the MTV golden age live experience. The Louisville Bats, AAA Affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds are once again delighted to host two Metro Council Community Nights of baseball this season. These two games are scheduled for Tuesday, August 11th and Wednesday, September 9th. While supplies last, the offer will include free admission for a reserved seat at Louisville Slugger Field, and a voucher good for one free hot dog and one free small soft drink. These Metro Council Community game night offers are available to all constituents of the 26 Metro Council Districts, geared toward, but not exclusively for residents who might otherwise not be able to afford to attend a Bats game. The offer is extended to both individuals and mentoring organizations, social service agencies, underprivileged kids’ groups, etc. Forms will be monitored and will close once each district has reached their maximum capacity of 300 tickets – Groups and individuals are advised to request their tickets in advance to ensure availability! ROARchestra returns Saturday, July 11th with Summer Breeze: YACHT ROCK CLASSICS, a nostalgic evening packed with smooth hits, summer vibes and live music at the Louisville Zoo. Led by beloved ROARchestra conductor Bob Bernhardt, the concert will feature iconic Yacht Rock favorites including Margaritaville, Africa, Escape (The Piña Colada Song), Sailing, What a Fool Believes and many more performed live by the Louisville Orchestra. Guests are invited to bring blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy a relaxing summer evening at the Zoo. Food, drinks and adult beverages will be available for purchase during the event. This event is expected to be one of the highlights of Louisville’s summer entertainment season. Guests are encouraged to purchase tickets early. The Zoo gates will open at 7 PM with the concert beginning at 8:30 PM. Guests may enjoy select Zoo areas prior to the performance before settling in on the Oasis Field for the concert. Tickets go on sale Friday, May 29th at noon at LouisvilleZoo.org/roar. Advanced tickets start at $30 for adults (ages 12+) and $15 for kids (ages 3-11) and include parking. Tickets for adults increase to $35 beginning July 1. Rain date for the performance is Sunday, July 12. La Villa Lou New Community Name for Preston Highway Corridor
La Villa Lou is the newly designated community name for the Preston Highway corridor (spanning from south of I-264 to the Outer Loop), transforming the area into a celebrated hub for Hispanic culture and entrepreneurship in Louisville. Announcing the initiative during Immigrant Heritage Month, Mayor Craig Greenburg introduced economic programs, interactive challenges, and public art to boost the corridor's cultural and economic profile. Join The Complete Streets Coalition
Are you interested in helping create safer, more accessible streets for everyone in Louisville Metro? If so, consider applying to join Louisville Metro’s Complete Streets Coalition. The coalition was established as part of the 2022 amendments to Louisville Metro’s Complete Streets Ordinance. It includes 15 community members, along with representatives from the Louisville Metro Department of Transportation (DOT), the Transit Authority of River City (TARC), and the Kentuckiana Regional Planning and Development Agency (KIPDA). Members play an important role in reviewing publicly funded transportation projects to make sure they consider the needs of people of all ages and abilities, across all modes of travel. The Coalition also helps projects meet or exceed Louisville’s adopted design standards, supporting a more connected and inclusive transportation network. There are currently several open positions, residents from across Louisville Metro are encouraged to apply. Dr. Lee Dugatkin will explore Thomas Jefferson's important role in early American natural history in this 4-week short course--from his argument with the world's leading natural historian, to his role in the first museum in the United States and his involvement in a 1972 expedition West (that would have made Lewis and Clark's journey an historical footnote), to his obsession with the Hessian Files.
