'Coffee With Your Councilman' - Data Center Discussion

My next 'Coffee With Your Councilman' will be Monday, February 23 at 6 p.m. at the Middletown Library, 12556 Shelbyville Road. Brian Davis with the Metro Office of Planning will join us to talk data centers - what they are, why we're revising the Land Development Code where data centers are concerned, how you can get involved in the process, etc. Click here for more information about data centers or to fill out the survey and comment form. I look forward to seeing you Monday evening.

LMPD Eighth Division Quarterly Meetings

As part of the Louisville Metro Police Department's ongoing commitment to community engagement, the Eighth Division will host its first quarterly community meeting on Wednesday, March 18 from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Berrytown Community Center, 1300 Heafer Road. This will be a great opportunity to get updates on public safety initiatives, ask questions, and engage directly with division personnel. The second quarter meeting will be held Wednesday, June 24 from 6-7:30 p.m. at Anchorage Middletown Fire & EMS, 9514 Featherbell Boulevard. I hope to see you at one or both of these meetings!

Cafe LOUIE - Saturday, March 7 at 9 a.m.

Cafe LOUIE

The next Cafe LOUIE in our area will be Saturday, March 7 at 9 a.m. at the Northeast Regional Library, 15 Bellevoir Circle. If you're unfamiliar with how these events work, Library Foundation staff welcomes everyone and then gives elected officials an opportunity to share brief remarks. Following that, facilitators ask pre-selected questions submitted by residents the morning of the event. I plan to be there and hope many of you will, too. Please visit the Cafe LOUIE website here for more information.

Office of Planning Weekly Activity Report

Each week, the Metro Office of Planning creates a report listing all new land use applications in Jefferson County. These typically include requests for changes in zoning, conditional use permits, variances, waivers, and more. There is one case in this week's report related to property near District 17, a landscape plan for a 196-unit multi-family development (most of which is in Oldham County) along Haunz Lane. Please let me know if you have any questions or comments about this proposal.

Louisville Grows - Treecipient Program

tree program

Looking to plant a new tree or two in your yard but not sure where to begin? Louisville Grows is a great place to start. Through its Treecipient Program, Louisville Grows provide residents with not just free trees but assistance with finding the right kind of tree and help planting it, too. Click here for more information.

Community Music Partnership

The Community Music Partnership, a collaboration between the Louisville Federation of Musicians and the Louisville Metro Council, brings live music to venues throughout the city at no cost to eligible partners. It's a great way to have quality entertainment at neighborhood gatherings, senior centers, and more. The list of musicians covers all sorts of music from bluegrass to jazz to Top 40 and more. Funding is limited, so availability is on a first-come, first-served basis. Click here to learn more or begin the application process.

Change of Use Permits

permit change

A change of use permit is required in Louisville Metro anytime a property's use changes from one type to another. For example, turning a house into a short-term rental, a warehouse into a gym, or a church into an event venue all require this type of permit. This is necessary, even if no construction is planned, because different uses can have different safety, building code, and zoning requirements. For more information, click here or call 574-3321.
