Contract crews to deliver materials for bridge construction
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Nov. 7, 2025) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of an overnight lane closure on Interstate 264 East (Watterson Expressway) beginning Tuesday, Nov. 11, as part of the $130 million widening and improvement project of I-264 and U.S. 42 (Brownsboro Road).
The left lane of I-264 East between mile markers 22 and 23 (from U.S. 42/Brownsboro Road to the I-264/I-71 split) will be closed from 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, through 6 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12. The overnight lane closure is necessary for contract crews to deliver materials for bridge construction as work progresses on the project. Motorists should use caution, heed signage, and allow extra travel time during the scheduled lane closure.
The highway improvement project is expected to be completed by the Fall of 2027. More details, including project timelines and traffic impacts, will be shared online as work progresses. Motorists are encouraged to sign up for email or text alerts regarding weekly traffic impacts pertaining to the project.

In partnership with Kroger, the Zoo invites military personnel and their families to enjoy a day of fun and relaxation on Nov. 11
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (November 7, 2025) – In celebration and appreciation of military heroes, Mayor Greenberg and the Louisville Zoo, in partnership with Kroger, are offering free admission to all active and retired military personnel and their immediate families on Veterans Day, Tuesday, Nov. 11. Military guests are simply required to present proof of service at the Zoo’s admission windows.
Acceptable forms of identification include a U.S Uniformed Services ID Card, Retired ID Card, current Leave and Earnings Statement (LES), veterans’ organization card (such as American Legion or VFW), a photo in uniform, wearing a uniform in-person, DD214 or citation/commendation. Immediate family includes individuals living in the same household.
Along with free admission, military personnel and their families can enjoy exclusive discounts on Veterans Day, including 10 percent off purchases at the Zoo gift shop and 50 percent off food and drink at Zoo concessions.
Kroger’s partnership with the Louisville Zoo extends its commitment to honoring military veterans.
“Kroger is honored to support veterans through this collaboration with the Louisville Zoo,” said Kroger spokesperson Jessica Sharp. “It’s our way of expressing gratitude to those who have served our country.”
Active military members receive free admission to the Zoo year-round, and their dependents receive 10 percent off general admission when accompanied by active military personnel with valid ID. Military guests are encouraged to check with the leisure travel offices at their bases in advance of their visit for other available discounts.

Louisville, KY – The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is again alerting the public to an active scam currently circulating in our community during tax season.
Last week, the Sheriff’s Office warned of scam phone calls where individuals falsely identified themselves as Sheriff’s Deputies, claiming citizens had missed court dates and demanding immediate payment to avoid arrest. Scammers have now shifted tactics and are sending text messages instructing recipients to click a link and pay their “property tax bill.”
This is a scam.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office will never call, text message, or message through social media to request or collect payment of any kind.
If you receive one of these text messages:
- Do not click any link
- Do not respond with personal or financial information
- Delete the message immediately
We strongly encourage the public to share this information with family, friends, and co-workers to help prevent additional victims, especially those who may be more vulnerable to fraudulent schemes.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office will continue to monitor this situation and provide updates as needed.

 Applications open November 1 for MSD’s Emergency Wastewater Rate Assistance Program (EWRAP), which provides a 30 percent discount for qualifying income-eligible customers.
The discount applies to wastewater service charges, wastewater volume charges and consent decree surcharges on the MSD portion of your bill.
To qualify, ratepayers must be MSD residential wastewater customers and at or below 175 percent of the poverty line, see table below:
Revenue and Collections Manager Yozette Borges said the program is “vital” to MSD’s commitment to serving the community.
“EWRAP provides payment assistance to those in need and is a vital part of MSD’s customer-focused approach,” Borges said. “We help our community thrive by developing programs that provide safe, reliable, and affordable services while enriching the lives of our communities today and in the future."

Following approval into the program, the discount may take up to two billing cycles to become active. MSD also offers a Senior Discount Program, which provides a 30 percent discount for those over the age of 65 who have an annual household income below $40,000. The Senior Discount Program is not available to those enrolled in EWRAP.

Temporary Kennedy Bridge Closure
- Beginning at 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, and continuing through 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, all lanes of I-65 South will be closed just past Exit 1 to U.S. 31 South/Stansifer Avenue/10th Street in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Motorists should plan to detour by taking I-265 West to I-64 East to reconnect with I-65 South.
The overnight closure is necessary to prevent any bridge movement while contract crews perform steel repairs underneath the roadway. This work involves precision machining, known as line boring, and the bridge must remain free of traffic to ensure the accuracy and alignment of the repairs.
During the closure, contract crews will also complete permanent striping on the recently installed high friction surface treatment just south of the bridge.
Up to seven additional overnight closures of the bridge are anticipated as work progresses. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will share specific dates and times once they are scheduled.
