I'm sure by now many of you have dealt with the road work taking place at the I-264/U.S. 42 intersection. When all is said and done, the project will bring major upgrades to what we all know to be a vital transportation corridor. These improvements include:
- Converting the interchange to a Single-Point Urban Interchange
- Widening and pavement upgrades on I-264 between Westport Road and I-71
- Rebuilding/Widening the U.S. 42 bridge over I-264
- New two-lane ramps from (a) I-264 eastbound to I-71 northbound and (b) I-264 westbound to Westport Road
- A new two-lane on-ramp at U.S. 42 to I-264 westbound
- Road improvements on KY 22 just before Warrington Way to just before Herr Lane
- Upgrades at U.S. 42 and Rudy Lane
- New multi-use paths to support other modes of transit
Of course, there will be the inevitable traffic changes, detours, construction alerts, etc. along the way. You can stay on top of those by signing up here to receive email notifications. Click here to learn more details about this project.
Each week, the Metro Office of Planning creates a report listing all new land use applications in Jefferson County. These typically include requests for changes in zoning, conditional use permits, landscape plans, and more. There is one request in this week's report involving property in District 17, a minor subdivision plat to create four lots from one just east of the Publix on KY 22. The current proposal would lead to a 5.5-acre lot in the rear of the property with three lots in front averaging about an acre each in size. Please contact the case manager at drake.watson@louisvilleky.gov with any questions or comments.
There are two cases just outside our district that might interest some of you, particularly those living in the eastern portion of the district. One is a revised district development plan for a 315-unit apartment complex at 13508 Factory Lane. The other is a record plat to create 56 lots on 14 acres located at 17401 Aiken Road. More information on those proposals can be found in the report.
This month's Pop-Up Drop-Off will be held Saturday, August 23 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Metro Fleet Services, 3515 Newburg Road. These events are great opportunities to properly dispose of large household items, electronics, prescription medications, personal documents, and more. For a more comprehensive list of accepted items or tips on making your trip more efficient, click here.
As part of the River Road Land Use Vision Plan, the Office of Planning is seeking input on innovative uses for metro-owned sites along River Road. The locations under consideration span both sides of River Road between Waterfront Park and Indian Hills Trail, encompassing 391 acres that include six parks and other public land plots. Click here to learn more about the process, complete the survey (which opens August 11), or find information about two public meetings taking place next week.
