What are the Birds and the Beasts? Louisville Zoo’s Special Couples-Only Trivia Night

Louisville, KY (January 29, 2025) – Celebrate love in the wild with our couples-only trivia night at the Louisville Zoo on Feb. 12 at 6:30 p.m. This special “The Birds and the Beasts” edition of the Zoo’s popular trivia night series will bring some romance just in time for Valentine’s Day — showcasing wild love stories and featuring a three-course dinner, drinks and themed entertainment. The trivia fun is exclusively for adults ages 21 and over and is hosted by Louisville Trivia.

Tickets:

Tickets are only available in pairs and include admission for two for trivia, two drinks (beer, wine, soda), a shared appetizer, two entrees, and a shared dessert. Advanced purchase is required; there will be no day-of sales. Additional beverages will be available for purchase.

Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams. Trivia Nights are held at the Zoo’s African Outpost at 6:30 p.m. and spots fill up quickly. Guests are encouraged to get their tickets early.

Louisville Water Tower & WaterWorks Museum

The Louisville Water Tower is one of Louisville's eight national historic landmarks and a must-see for both locals and tourists. Fun fact: It's actually the oldest water tower in the U.S.! The tower opens its doors to the public on the second Sunday of every month. The dates for the rest of this quarter are:

  • Feb. 9 (including a Super Bowl Sunday giveaway — each attendee will be entered into win the "pre-game prize pack")

Iroquois Amphitheater Announces 2025 Lineup and New Partnership with Danny Wimmer Presents

Mayor Craig Greenberg, Louisville Parks and Recreation, and Danny Wimmer Presents are excited to announce a multi-year partnership to bring an expanded lineup of events annually to the iconic Iroquois Amphitheater, the centerpiece of Iroquois Park. The collaboration launches with a fresh new logo, website, and branding, ushering in a dynamic lineup starting this spring that will feature an increased mix of new concerts and community events alongside cherished favorites like “Iroquois Amphitheater’s Classics Under The Stars” free movie series and the Jack O’Lantern Spectacular, with additional concerts and special events to be unveiled in the coming weeks and months.

Louisville Metro FY26 EAF Grant Applications Now Open!

The FY 26 External Agency Fund Grant Applications opened Friday, January 31, 2025, and will close March 3, 2025.

EAF grants provide critical funding to nonprofits serving Louisville’s diverse community needs. Once applications are submitted, they enter a competitive process and are scored by a panel based on impact and measurable outcomes.

Successful applicants’ proposals will be recommended for funding in the mayor’s FY 26 budget proposal to Metro Council.

 

Each of the following Louisville Metro agencies will administer the EAF Funds:

Office for Safe and Healthy Neighborhoods: Youth Engagement Services Funding

Office of Resilience and Community Services: Community Services Funding

Office of Arts + Creative Industries: Arts, Heritage, and Creative Industry Funding

Southwest Community Ministries will host their annual Giving Back Gala. We are raising money to continue to provide a hand up to our neighbors in crisis.  The Mission of Southwest Community Ministries is to "Unite Community Partners to fulfill the needs of our neighbors in crisis".  We do this through our food pantry which serves an average of 700 individuals each month, Our Emergency Financial Assistance program which provides utility and rental assistance to an average of 40 households each month, our Meals on Wheels programming keeping over 90 homebound seniors fed each week, and our Children's Programing assure that over 300 of the children in our community have what they need to learn play and grow each year.

Our Gala is from 5:00 pm - 10:00 pm with cocktails, dinner, silent auction, raffles, wine & bourbon pull, dancing, and community engagement.  Admission is $100 or if you purchase before January 31st, you can take advantage of an Early Bird special of $85 per ticket.  You can also support the event by becoming a sponsor.  There are different levels of sponsorship providing you the opportunity to get a table and advertisement for your company.

LIHEAP Winter Crisis Enrollment is Open

Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) Winter Crisis enrollment is now available through Kentucky’s Community Action Network for eligible Kentucky households. Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis through March 31, 2025, or until designated funds have been expended.
