District 10 news

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving!

We hope that everyone has a happy Thanksgiving. Whether we get together with family, friends, volunteer, or enjoy dinner at the track, we'll give thanks and enjoy community.

This is a great time to reach out (and maybe bring a plate of turkey and dressing) to neighbors who can't get out and about.

We're thankful for so much, including having the honor of serving District 10, and all the neighbors, associations, first responders, public works, waste collection, parks workers and everyone who keeps our district going.

City Hall will be closed Thursday, November 28 and Friday, November 29 and Friday for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Thanksgiving week closings and delays for Public Works

Staffed recycling locations, the Waste Reduction Center, the Haz Bin, and the leaf drop-off locations will close at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, November 27. They will also be closed Thursday, November 28 and Friday, November 29. All four services will resume on Saturday, November 30, but will close at 1 p.m.

There will be no residential garbage, recycling, or yard waste collection within the Urban Services District on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 28. Residents who normally have collection on Thursdays, will have service on Friday instead. The regular Friday collection will be on Saturday instead.

To view your waste collection schedule and stay informed about changes and holidays, use our Recycle Coach app or use the app on our website. Residents outside the Urban Services District who rely on private haulers for garbage, recycling, and yard waste collection should consult those haulers about their holiday collection schedule.

Make food safety the main dish at your holiday dinner

turkey and food safety

For first-time hosts, or even experienced cooks, the Thanksgiving turkey can be a nerve-wracking dish to prepare once a year. The USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has some tips to reduce any anxiety over cooking your turkey this year.
